Xandari Pearl Beach Resort

Xandari pearl is a heavenly paradise. We went there as part of a Trailfinders package for a week after the hustle and bustle of North India. This was the perfect wind down tonic. ALL the staff were so warm, friendly and genuinely happy to see you there and make a sincere effort to make you feel at home. Nothing was too much for them. We received a flower garland arrival reception and were taken to our Villa (22) where we had the most cosy and peaceful room with a beautiful pool which was most private. There was an outdoor/indoor shower and this led nicely to the pool. The room was very clean and spacious, good WiFi and we barely had any mosquitoes. The hotel restaurant provided a good balance between South Indian cuisine and European style food (mainly for those who couldn't handle Indian food). There is a nice bar with a reasonable drinks selection including cocktails. I felt compelled to mention the restaurant manager who went out of his way to look after us and even made me some off menu tailor made dishes at my request, one of which was a prawn fry - simply WOW. We had two Ayurvedic massages which was also a delight. The beach is within walking distance and was clean and warm enough for my other half, an expert swimmer unlike me, to use. There are a few stray dogs on the beach who are pretty harmless but can be a tad off putting -this is normal in al parts of India and is not a big deal but may come as a surprise to those not expecting them. They did not come into the hotel at any stage. We recommend Xandari pearl in the highest possible way and will have NO hesitation whatsoever in going again. We absolutely loved it.

Had a wonderful stay here with family. Everything was top notch. The staff, the restaurant and the property on the whole. Will be visiting again for sure. Special mention to the gardener for doing so much good work with the veggies. Good going guys.

The villa was of a high international / minimalist standard with a huge comfortable bed, a well designed and stylish outdoor bathroom with decent flow shower, and a walled very private garden with hammock, sun lounger, chairs and table. Like the rest the resort, villa gardens and even the bathroom are perfectly coifed with lush grass and tropical flowers. Every day a band of gardeners rake up every stray leaf, and there is lots of new planting as well as what already exists on this former coconut plantation. The butterfly garden is gorgeous as is the incipient orchid garden. These guys are true to their eco ethos with their own kitchen garden, no plastics in the toiletry offering and the delicious daily fresh juices, snacks and water are delivered in reusable sterilised glass bottles. Even for the late afternoon kite flying on the beach - these have been lovingly made of newspaper and cotton reels… So, excellent creature comforts - including the best ever facial by Shiseida - but the staff are also incredibly charming, helpful and numerous. A special mention to Shimlaj in the restaurant who helped us choose our supper choices each evening and was chatty and informative. The only downside is the lack of any other restaurants in the area though there are some charming bars just ***** the beach serving drinks and lunch. The beach is incredible: almost deserted in one direction with only early morning fishermen sorting their catch and a small cluster of beach cafes in the other. People are so friendly in Kerala but there is a joyful lack of beach hawkers so you can walk for miles without anyone disturbing you other than to smile and perhaps ask where you are from. Would definitely recommend Xandari Pearl and return again myself.

We had a great experience there. The cleanliness and hygiene were of a very high standard. The food was sumptuous, and the service was excellent with a smile. The manager Manjusha and jyotish ***** with the staff, made our experience memorable. Keep it up, guys!

This is no ordinary resort. Although it’s a high end resort it has a strong local feel as many of the staff live locally in the neighboring village. There is an organic farm and vege garden on site. The farm have cattle who produce milk for the restaurant. They also have cute kittens and our tween daughter would have liked to have gone every day to have fed the cattle and patted the kittens if she could have. The vege garden has an incredible array of varieties of fruit and veges as well as specific plants which attract diverse species of butterflies. The men that run the farm and vege garden didn’t speak much English but were so welcoming when we visited and clearly took a lot of care of their animals and crops which was lovely. In fact every staff member we interacted with was a delight, from the young life guard monitoring the beach to the yoga teacher who taught every morning on the beach, to the lovely Chai Waller:), to the lady who took the flax weaving session. Xandari Pearl is located on a beautiful quiet part of the beach. Each evening after complimentary chai and snacks we swum in the beautiful warm sea water and partook in kite flying with the sun setting over the Arabian Sea. After feeling saturated by hotel menus and buffets from the earlier part of our trip we found lots of interesting things to eat from this a la carte restaurant menu. Shimlaj was a fabulous menu navigator with his suggestions of what was fresh that day, what we might like, and level of spice. He even arranged for our daughter to have her favourite, paroota breads for breakfast:) Our room was lovely - with a sweet outdoor bathroom, a plunge pool area and even a workspace. Very comfortable for the 3 of us. This was certainly a delightful end to our 2 weeks in India and we would love to come back.
