Elewana Sand River Masai Mara

What a wonderful experience. The entire team is welcoming and friendly. Our room (Cabin 10) was an easy walk to the main lounge and dining area. The fire pit in the evening was a great touch. Benjamin was our safari guide and he was INCREDIBLE. Within the first 24 hours we saw all of the big 5. And throughout our trip he found a baby croc, amazing birds like Eagles, and lots of hippos - in addition to the Big 9. Benjamin was obviously respected at the camp and among other guides from other camps. He was friendly, serene, and knowledgeable. He made sure we were able to get amazing photos and made the request of 5 different people come together. Our cabin was comfortable, it was great to have the lounge area and porch. Although, honestly we weren't there much except to sleep really. The bed was comfortable and even with the evening chill, we were perfectly comfortable. The heated water bottles in the beds for a warm up were a great touch. The bathroom was spacious and while I wasn't brave enough to shower outside at night the bathtub was a luxurious option. The toiletries and drinking water were also great touches. We loved the laundry service, they even found a little figuring that was accidentally left in a pocket and traveled with us on behalf of our niece who would have been heartbroken if it was lost. There is a little shop that has some nice and reasonably priced gifts. The tea and biscuits/cookies sent to our room at 4:00am before our hot air balloon ride were a perfect start to the date. The food.- great choices. Lunch and dinner were 4 courses and the selections were varied, and delicious. The team easily accommodated our request for mock tails. And as part of our safari touring group, 3 of the 5 had birthdays within days of each other. The culinary team made a delicious gluten free, nut free cake to celebrate. It was awesome to see such care made to food allergies. The sundowner with the fire pit was such a treat, great view, food, and drinks. Impressive. The manager (I am so annoyed with myself I can't remember his name at the moment) was so kind, friendly, and warm. He made you feel like an honored and special guest. There are animals all around you, you hear them at night in the bushes, but we always felt safe. We are so appreciative of this experience. If we had to do anything different it would be to stay a little longer so we could enjoy more of the experience.

This camp is beyond amazing, the completely private luxurious tents, although tent is the wrong description, these are huge, spacious, very large tents’with a sitting area, super king sized comfortable beds, bathroom with stunning large copper tub, an outside shower overlooking the Sand River where elephants stroll by, deer, baboons and other wildlife come to drink. It is fabulous, the three course meals served everyday are superb, but best of all is the warmth and care shown by all the staff members on the campsite, nothing is too much trouble, their big smiles, caring attitude and friendliness is second to none. They truly are the very best. We had a private driver who showed us the most amazing sights of lions, hyenas, elephants, giraffes, buffalo and so much more, many of our excursions we sat overlooking the Masai Mara plains, enjoying coffee and cakes, lunch etc, not another soul in sight. This was an experience beyond our wildest dreams I highly recommend this campsite.

On our safari we stayed at 5 different Elewana properties. Although the location of this one is great it was not our favorite. Our room was hot during the night. The patio/porch which overlooked the river was so hot you couldn't sit out. The outdoor shower, which I would have loved to use was unusable because you were told not to use it at night because of the bugs and during the day it was so hot that you couldn't touch the handles on the faucets. We were in room 12. It was in a. separate part of the camp. I think I would have enjoyed staying in the main camp more. Food was good. Our guide, Charles seems dot be preoccupied.

We traveled to several Elewana properties and they. were all equally amazing! But being on the Sand River which divides Tanzania to Kenya was truly remarkable. The staff exceeded our expectations - the food was truly amazing, the safaris were outstanding - we saw everything and more! While the trip is adventures and pack filled with animals & fun - with little relaxation - the cozy dinners and food with friends on the river were remarkable! HIGHLY recommend!

Our trip to sand river was unmatched, Joel is the best guide we had during our trip to Kenya - he went above and beyond to help us see some of the craziest sites while in Safari. Would highly highly recommend! Collins was also a brilliant help during our stay - we loved being catered to by him.

This is the most stunning camp. Extraordinary luxury right in the middle of the Masai Mara. The food in particular was stunning. The rooms are amazing ‘tents’ although the interiors as far from being a tent as it is possible to get. Sleep with the flaps open so that you can hear the elephants and lions through the night
