Mountain View Lodge

For what we paid per night, I did not expect very much. It’s always a gamble booking cheaper places to stay, but this was certainly worth it. The room was big enough for four people to stay in comfortably. It wasn’t giant, but it didn’t need to be. My family came during the winter, so we didn’t use the pool or barbecue area (though reception told us they would turn on propane if we asked). There was garland above the door. The building and lobby were also decorated nicely for the holidays. I love these details! You won’t find many hotel chains who go through the troubles of putting up decorations (a perk of it being family owned). They also served free continental breakfast, which was great for my family, who didn’t want to drive around every morning trying to find a place to eat. If we did want to go out for breakfast, that would not have been too hard. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. I’ll stay here again the next time I come to Lake Chelan.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! My daughter and I booked a trip to go see her friend that moved to the area. I knew I could not come up with her on Thursday because I had to work so I included her name in my reservation and sent her with my credit card and drivers license. They allowed her to check in on Thursday. By the time I was able to leave work, it was dark and I didn't want to drive through the pass. Got a welcome text and thank you for checking in so ASSUMED everything was fine. The next morning they knock on my daughter's car door and told her that if I do not show up, they need a credit card from her. Mind you, mine was already charged both charges (the deposit and the room charge). She let them know that I was coming and that I was just having some car issues. I sent them a text right away asking what was going on (11:34am). I received a call right away saying that they were looking out for me and wanted to make sure I was safe from fraud. I let them know that she has the actual card and my actual ID so there is no fraud. The girl continued to talk about the card and fraud. I asked to speak to the manager or owner and she told me everything was fine and that they would just wait until I got there. Around 2pm my daughter returned to her room and she was LOCKED OUT! In the cold snow. I immediately called the front desk and spoke with the owners daughter. She again kept telling me that they are worried about fraud!! By this point I was in shock that instead of calling me or texting me, they locked her out of the room with all of her stuff inside. The woman then let me know that they have companies pay for their staffs rooms all of the time and that there was a form I could just sign allowing my daughter to use my card. Evidently all of the actual phone calls with me on the phone was not enough. If they had this form, why was I not told of this before they harassed my daughter? Worst hotel stay ever!! I really hope no one stays here and especially is treated the way my daughter was!!
