The rooms are basic, but clean. The food is basic, but good and healthy. Lots of fresh juices. The areas that Tinamou really shines are with the birding and the staff. The expert bird guides found us 44 different species over the course of two days. Spectacular birds that only live in narrow strips of the Andes according to the Merlin App. We had some logistics problems getting there (totally our fault) but the staff went out of their way to get our birding adventure back on track. I also forgot my binoculars, but they lent me a pair till we left. I was really impressed with how hard the guides (Manuela, Fernando, and Brayan worked to find us the birds. Genuinely nice people!

The grounds are beautiful and the lodge area is set back several kilometers off the local roads so the area is quiet and peaceful. The cabanas are well provisioned - we liked our #7 as it had a small walk-in closet for our bags and clothes. The temperature was unseasonably warm while we were there but staff accommodated by delivering several fans to our room so it was comfortable to sleep. We left our windows open at night with no issues. There was a good variety of food and wonderful fresh juices and coffee. The lodge has a good network of trails and its own bird guide, who has been onsite for over 20 years. We saw golden collared manakins on a lek, white vented plumeleteer, a pair of spectacled owls, Parker's antbird, black-chested jays, spectacle breated went, brown throated parakeets, pale breasted spinetail and ultramarine grosbeak, and a bar crested antshrike, black tailed flycatcher, plain antvieo and golden crowned warblers to name a few. A pretty busy 2 days of birding. The road out of the lodge is worth and time and effort to bird after breakfast.

El lugar es un remanso de paz, alejado de la ciudad, su bullicio y sus afanes. Se pueden avistar gran cantidad de aves y fauna. El personal es muy amable y cálido. Las habitaciones bien iluminadas y ventiladas, el cuarto de baño muy espacioso así como las habitaciones.

A very pretty place in a lovely location with nice birds, I think your comfort and enjoyment will depend on the kind of birder and traveler you and your spouse are. Speaking personally; I was greatly impressed with the communication from the lodge. It was amazingly rapid and detailed. But when I requested a room with only one large/king bed; I was told all the rooms were the same with 2 small/full beds. Reading through the other reviews now; that does not appear accurate. And the the bedding size and quality of the mattress interfered with a good night's sleep. Comfort overall was wanting with a lack of privacy given that people gathered to bird watch right outside the room to bird watch on the porch. All this might have been less important had the birding been better. But most of the species sighted were fairly common and ones I had seen before. The anticipated hummingbirds were few and far between. Meals were very decent and all attending staff were very accomodating.

Stayed here for 1 night as my husband loves birds. Absolutely loved it. Very comfortable rooms, spotlessly clean and the food was sooooo good. The birding guide was very experienced and we saw lots of beautiful birds. Highly recommend this place.
