Our room at the Vivanta overlooked a very atmospheric (but sadly crumbling) old building (part of the District Commissioner's office), its sloping roof red-tiled and its general appearance one of a quaint, bygone age. The Vivanta is of course a very modern hotel, but my family and I thought it had a charm that fitted in completely, what with the beautiful tiled mosaic on one wall in the lobby, the subdued purple upholstery, the flower arrangements - lovely. There is also an air of cozy compactness that we appreciated. The hotel has a gym, bar (Wink), Chinese restaurant (Memories of China), coffee shop (Mynt), bar, banquets, swimming pool, room service, travel desk, concierge, and a couple of shops on the ground floor. Our room, on the third floor, was well-sized, with pretty much all the amenities you would expect, including inroom safe, flat screen TV, ironing board and iron, hair dryer, etc. Generally clean and well-maintained, and sleep quality was excellent. Note that all the beds in the hotel are queen-sized. We ended up having to get an extra bed put in our room (@Rs 1,500) to accommodate our daughter. I was pleasantly surprised at the speed and efficiency with which this request was carried out. Even on other occasions, any requests were handled promptly and efficiently. Overall, a very good hotel.
