Sumus Hotel Monteplaya & Spa 4Sup - Adults Only

Still at this hotel at moment..Lovely and clean everywhere. All staff very nice and very helpful..food good . is very safe as cameras on corridors and areas around the hotel..rooms good standard..Will definatley return..x

Great location close to the train station. Close to shops and lots of eateries .The beach was only a short walk away. Hotel was spotless, lovely staff who were helpful. Bright, modern and clean , great bedroom , beds made every day. Lots of toiletries provided.

Here for 4 days and we had an excellent time. Could not fault anything and we shall be back. Thank you for a wonderful break! Highly recommend for a brief trip. We arrived at Girona at 09:30am. Booked transport via Shuttles Direct. Given the reviews, we chose a private taxi. Driver waiting on our arrival, and was very polite. Arrived at Sumus for 11am and shown to luggage storage area and changing room. Reception exceptionally friendly and shared WiFi with us. Went to explore Malgrat de mar - lovely town with lots to look around. We were half board to had a pizza at a local restaurant. That evening went for dinner at the hotel as we did half board. There was a special inclusive cheese and wine evening put on which was a lovely touch. At dinner, very nice food with wide selection, and reasonably priced drinks you pay for when leaving the restaurant. Breakfast very nice as well! Espresso and a cappuccino will fit in the cups if you need coffee a little stronger. Sitting in the outside area for food was lovely. Daytime we spent by the pool. Not heated but it is perfect once in and very refreshing. We enjoyed sitting upstairs around the pool area. Sunbeds at weekend were competitive to get as people do reserve then go to breakfast sadly. Also not many umbrellas and these are 100% needed! But did not ruin our stay at all - just wake up earlier and go to breakfast then find your space. Lovely local park a 25 minute walk away with views of Malgrat de Mar - lovely place to explore. So close to the beach too - the sand gets hot! BLT at lunch time was great value and very tasty. Lovely mocktails too. Honestly - all great! Strongly recommend booking with hotel directly - lots of little perks. We did separate flights, travel, hotel. Easy. Did not upgrade to superior room - in a twin comfy room and it was lovely! Views over the pool of next door hotel which was great for people watching who you won’t see at dinner! 😂 we used the gym too, great equipment and set up. Didn’t use the spa as it was lovely out but looked great!

Before the two things... great team in the bar/bistro, great team in the restaurant, reception brilliant, housekeeping excellent... and behind these, a team that leads a very well managed, exceptionally well run hotel. Two things. I wasn't clear that I could have some control over where my room was positioned in the hotel. I had what I think is called a comfort room. The room was very good but the outlook and balcony were upfront and personal with an adjacent hotel which was not the sort of adults only vibe that I was staying in. It kind of spoilt the stay a bit. I would have happily paid more to avoid that. And second, look carefully at the board options to be sure you choose the right package for you. We were half board. There were quite a lot on Inclusive. On this occasion for us, HB was best.

Hotel very clean, smelt lovely and rooms cleaned daily, can't fault. Now the negatives: Staff on reception were rude, seemed like they couldn't be bothered to answer any questions or help you. Id say 95% of staff miserable, no smiles or interaction (yes we did tip them but still nothing) Wait time for drinks over 30 mins, but dont bother the cocktails were awful. As was the food. All inclusive isn't! Was told about 4 things we could have from the bar to eat in afternoon, when I asked for 1 I was told no you can't have that 🤣😂 . Sun goes from pool area around 4pm . Top tip: Go to the sunset terrace, noone ever up there and there's loungers with the sun shining all evening. We were up there till gone 7pm and it was glorious. Railway track right infront of hotel, have to go under the underpass to get to the gritty sanded beach. Definitely would not go back.

I am currently staying at this hotel and so impressed. The hotel is spotless, the superior rooms are beautiful and cleaned daily. The all inclusive option is excellent, plenty of choice at meal times, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The bar staff take orders around the pool and lounge areas, which is an added bonus. The entertainment at night is really enjoyable, a sing song for everyone. Outside of the hotel there are many shops and restaurants, the beach is a 5 minute walk. I'd highly recommend this hotel.

Great hotel. Second time we have stayed. The service is great from all the staff. Very clean and well laid out. Bar on site with good evening entertainment. I would say the air-conditioning in the bedroom needs locking at as it was not as cool as i would expect in respect of the outside tempreture so had poor sleep at night.

I was disappointed with our holiday this time as we always choose All inclusive But this time it was very different. Arriving at the hotel we were not greeted and at reception the unfriendly staff told us we were unable to be given our room location until 14:30 and so we had to wait nearly 3 hours. Then when we were given our room location and had to find it ourselves carrying our own luggage. We came back down after unpacking to find we had to pay extra for our safe and towels. We then went to gym and indoor pool to find them locked. I went to reception to ask why? To be told they are not part of the all-inclusive And it was €16 per person for 2 hours use. We decided against this as it's never been that way before. We then proceeded to go to get ourselves a drink . We went to the bar where when ordering a drink your room card had to be scanned and room number given. We then ordered some food again using our room card and number. When the food arrived, they were not what we ordered and this happened Several times. Very few of the staff smiled or greeted you around the hotel.

I've given 4 stars for the experience at the Monteplaya because part of the review covers location, but the hotel itself I'd give a 5 if I was able to do it separately The beaches along this coast are fantastic. Obviously not very busy in April/May but even in the height of summer I would imagine there would be space to relax. The hotel position is a little odd, not quite what we were expecting, in fact if we hadn't been directed by the coach drivers we might initially have missed the unobtrusive little entrance. It is positioned between a row of shops. There is nothing hugely flamboyant about it but once under the arch you are in a little oasis. There was a very small flaw in the location in that we didn't know before we went, that the railway bisects the road, In fact you can practically only access the beach if you take one of the subways to get safely across. This wasn't a major deal, just unexpected and there are plenty of subways, but if you are a light sleeper, you would have to factor in the train noise, especially in the evening and late into the night then early morning. They shoot past very quickly but you do get some noise. The railway would affect all the hotels along this stretch, not just the Monteplayer . Then of course, because the hotel fronts the road you get the noise of drunken holiday makers even into the early hours of the morning but that's humans for you. We all holiday differently I suppose !!! The hotel itself, and it's staff, are without doubt, probably the best we have experienced anywhere Nothing was ever too much trouble. Forgotten your USB plug ? not a problem. Go to reception and they have a drawer with spares you can borrow The hotel is spectacularly clean. Everything and everywhere is spotless and it gleams. Bedding and towels were the whitest we ever had. The towels are a very generous size and soft but still have drying properties, unlike some where they slide right off your skin. Housekeeping was very efficient and unobtrusive. Tea/coffee making is in the room but the cups are very small We did ask for, and get, an adaptable room which was very useful to me as I have a balance problem. Although I didn't actually require a wheelchair the room is designed for this , including the bathroom. Here I can really praise the hotel. It was more of a wetroom with a seat inside the shower for the disabled person. In fact the room was so large, as were the shower doors, that a wheelchair could go right up to it. The shower head was removable, but could be fixed at head height as well as lower down so suited all aspects of disability. The shower floor and the bathroom tiles were non slip so no fear of falls The water temperature could be fixed and the flow was very powerful. There was a lift up arm to one side of the loo and another fixed one to the other side to aid independence and mobility The only downside to the adapted room was that there wasn't a sink in the bathroom, not even a little
