Blue Bay Resort Hotel

Totally recommended place for Families and friends who want to have fun! All the staff is working hard and do their best to help everyone. We really enjoyed our stay and certainly will come back!

Not going to over do this review. The hotel is excellent FOR what you pay.. It's no use comparing to super all inclusive venues offering an all round premium experience in every aspect. What I will say is the following. This place is ran with precision. It is clean every where and tidy. The food provided as part of the AI is on point and exceeded expectations. Dinners were stand out and breakfast and lunch not far behind at all. The drinks for me were fine and a nice mix of spirits and cocktails.. Also plentiful choice for the kiddies. So many snacks through the day and also ice cream, pizza, you name it. Even properly made fresh rolls for those who didn't want lunch. The main pool is great and can get busy. The other pools aren't really best options for adults but still nice all the same. Finally and I mean this sincerely. The staff here have been exceptional!!. So friendly and so nice and pleasant. These people get ran ragged every day and never stop smiling and being kind. I am hours away from leaving awaiting the transfer after 7 nights here. The few niggles you could focus on like sun bed availability happens every where I've stayed. The local beach is beautiful if you really get stuck but found beds every day. I am genuinely gutted to be leaving here it has been a small piece of paradise and super enjoyable for a relaxing week away with plenty of options and greats bars. I start this review by emphasising that in this life you get what you pay for. Read the other reviews but bear in mind when you haven’t paid five star prices you are not going to get a five star experience. We travelled as a family of three in July 2025 and had a wonderful time ( weather was superb which always makes a difference) Start with the room. This was clean and spacious. More than enough room for the three of us. We had a sea view which was stunning. Beds were comfy, bathroom was clean and the shower worked nicely. Air conditioning is needed in the summer and the rooms have this. Cleaning on a daily basis is efficient. Pool area. There are three main pools with some others situated in other parts of the complex. But the three serve their purpose well. Would a larger pool be better, sure it would but the size and situation of the site would not allow for it. There is enough room for children and adults to play catch, volleyball, frisbee etc without too much issue. Pools are sea water and so get lovely and warm by the middle of the afternoon. There are more than enough sunbeds to go around, the usual early birds will catch the ones closest to the pool edge but there are enough beds and parasols to go around even if you trundle down at 11am. Entertainment is thin on the ground but it’s not that type of resort for full on aqua aerobics and classic water polo. To be honest Karen if you don’t go to your local council pool each week and do your aerobics class then why are you that fussed that there isn’t a daily one here? Pool bar is ideal. A range of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages to suit all needs. Remember you get a plastic glass because who wants actual glass around the pool when Karen is stomping her feet because the aqua aerobics class isn’t on! Ice cream also on tap. Delicious. Let’s now talk food. Breakfast - this is the standard continental / English mash up. Plenty to go around. All nice and fresh. Can’t ask for much more. Lunch and dinner - again always fresh with a variety of options. Always the staple carbs of chips, rice and pasta, supplemented with a variety of meats and sauces and vegetables. Really good offering and changed on a daily basis. To go with this you also have the range of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Absolutely no complaints from Me here. We spent a few hours at the local beach - bus to the bottom comes every few hours and is free from the hotel. Check the times and get to the drop off and pick up point early to make sure you get a spot. Beach is great fun there are loads of fish to spot in the shallows so bring a snorkel you have one! We took a trip to Knossos too, don’t book with your travel provider as the local bus into Heraklion is only €4 each and the bus then to Knossos is only €2.50 each. Timetables are available at reception. If you do go book online - do your research to get the right provider circa €20 each entry. A good morning out and always good to experience some local culture.

Gorgeous view from a wonderful hotel! Super clean hotel in a stunning bay. Weather; it was hot hot hot, 30 plus most days and 27 at night, air con in the rooms was great though luckily! We didn’t manage any trips as our kids were struggling with the heat. We loved our room (541) jacuzzi on balcony and sun loungers was a lovely touch. Our maid was fantastic, fresh bedding and towels each day. Pools; these were fab, good depth for all ages and we all loves the slides And most days had no issues getting a sun bed with us refreshing for a Brit!!!! Food; loved the food - so much choice and tasty puddings. Kids had the usual spag Bol or chips and ice cream for pud but us adults tried a variety of dishes and enjoyed them all! Location; it is a little remote and the walk down to the beach is steep if you have walking difficulties, however there is a free shuttle bus. The beach is quite rocky so you do need shoes if you have sensitive feet. It’s worth it though for the absolutely crystal clear waters ! I did lots of snorkelling and saw plenty of fish! There’s water sports too. Staff; lovely, friendly and helpful. All inclusive drinks, we did read reviews before we left so was prepared for the limited amount of spirits available but it was a bit of a let down and do feel the cups could be slightly better quality. And maybe a more sustainable material for the planet ans all that but we did enjoy the wine especially the Cretan rose :) Entertainment- we enjoyed most of the evening entertainment in the amphitheater just frustrating to have a long walk from the bar with your drinks in flimsy plastic cups. Sunset each night was amazing (see pic) Overall, we would definitely return to this hotel - thank you for a fabulous stay.
