Sunny Suites

Could not fault anything about this place, it's small, quiet and restful, the staff were all lovely, everyone was warm and welcoming, pool was deep and cool which was ideal in the current temperatures and as others have said never a problem to find a space or a sun lounger. Lots of nice places to eat within walking distance, our recommendations would be the Taverna down at the shore and Mike's. Maleme itself is a small relaxed place, and theres good shopping along the coast at Platanias.

Clean, friendly hotel. Pool is gorgeous, short walk from the beach. George the barman was brilliant. Had the best time and would visit again.

3rd year at sunny suites. Great to go back and see everyone again. Absolute love this place. Great staff, friendly helpful and fun Big shout to the boys in the bar Mini Manos, Petros & of course best omelette & milkshake man George. Thanks boys . We had so many laughs. Front room overlooking the sea, great view. Supermarket just along the road. Ate at Mikes a few nights, again not to far away. Great food and servicealso went to chania on the bus, and Kolimbari on the few times we left the hotel. If you are thinking about booking here you won't regret it. Pleasantly surprised by this establishment hence the 5*. Our room was spacious and clean-lounge with tv, table, two sofas and coffee table-kitchenette with two cooking rings, toaster, coffee maker and all the equipment you would need-bedroom with two beds pushed together but hey ho! luggage rack, dressing table and bedside tables, bathroom with walk in shower (rainfall and handheld). The only downside was we were on the third floor and the last flight of steps half killed me (no lifts). We had a balcony on two sides of the apartment that got the sun all day and the views of mountains and sea. The pool gets deep (9ft) really quickly which didn't bother us. The beach bar does food (quite limited-stuff like omelettes, salad, toasties etc and the most wonderful pizza which we had a couple of times on a night instead of going out. Also, a wide range of drinks and cocktails. However, the cocktails were the most expensive we came across on our holiday-they are 10e. In Chania, the most expensive we saw were 8e. All the shorts at the pool bar are 8e, beer around 4-5e, milkshakes 4e. I must commend the cleaning staff (lovely clean linen and towels everyday) the pool and bar staff-think it's George, Pedro, Manos-who nows makes the most wonderful BMWs All in all, despite no lift (my problem) and the bar prices, the Sunny Suites does warrant my five stars. I would say it's suited to couples mostly. Supermarket and bus stops a hop, skip and jump away all on the flat.

Just back from a week at Sunny Suites. Absolutely spot on week. We arrived early morning to be met by really friendly staff who gave us water and beer. Our room, 202 was clean, and a good size with everything needed for a weeks holiday. The air con was great. The pool area is big enough for the size of the hotel and there were always sun beds available. The bar staff were brilliant. Helpful, friendly and very chatty. There are plenty of eateries within walking distance and for venturing further afield, buses run regular, stop very close to the hotel and are dirt cheap. We had a great week. Nice and quiet. Bar staff were great, cleaners were great and the owner, who is more than happy to have a friendly chat, was great. All in all, a great, quiet and relaxing holiday in what I thought was a very inexpensive hotel.

On arrival in Maleme and it being so quiet I thought we'd made a mistake. How wrong was I? I now understand why people return year after year to Sunny Suites. Perfectly formed rooms with great aircon and comfy beds. We had 104 right at the edge of the pool which had a great terrace with a lovely breeze. There was no fighting for sun loungers and no groups of rowdy folk. The bar staff, especially Petros, were friendly, helpful and really interesting to chat to. There are a few nice places to eat in the village we especially enjoyed Mike's - great food and really friendly staff. The bus service is great. They arrive every 20 minutes and you just hop on and buy your ticket from a conductor. A ticket to Chania was €2.50. We will definitely return.
