기대에 부풀어 여행 마지막 밤을 쉐라톤 미라지 호텔로 결정하였다. 5성 럭셔리 호텔이라는 기대와 함께 들어간 호텔 안은 엉망이었다. 꾸리꾸리한 카펫 냄새가 우리를 맞이했고, 몇달은 청소를 안한 듯 육안으로 먼지가 확인됐다. 너무 화가났지만 영어로 의사 소통이 가능한 남편이 씻고 나오기만 기다리다 온몸에 올라오는 알러지를 참지 못하고 데스크로 뛰어가 사진과 함께 몸에 올라온 피부트러블을 보여줬다. 다행히 한국어를 유창하게 잘하는 직원의 도움으로 일단 방을 바꿔주기로 했고, 미안함 을 대신해 음료권을 줘 일단 속상한 마음을 가라 앉혔다.
하지만 지금도 이해 할 수 없는 5성호텔의 엉망인 관리를 생각하니 화가난다. 비수기였고, 바로 바꿔줄 수 있는 룸이 있었는데...그것도 일반룸이 아니고 뷰 좋은 룸을 추가요금 지급하며 선택했었는데 이런 룸을 배정하다니...5성 럭셔리 호텔이라고 홍보전에 청소부터 재대로 해야 할 거 같다. 9박10일 호주여행 4곳의 숙소 중 가장 이해할 수 없고 최악의 호텔이었다.

The environment and location are excellent, the service, hygiene and facilities are beyond reproach! The musty smell is suffocating, and what is even more infuriating is that people smoke on the balcony (there is no sign or staff to remind them to "No smoking"). 300 Australian dollars was directly deducted from the prepaid deposit 1 hour after check-out. I called to inquire and the reason was that the waiter cleaned the carpet in the room and there was a smell of smoke, which needed to be cleaned. I protested and said that there was this smell as soon as I entered the room, but no one paid any attention to it. It's a huge pit!!!
