Maesalong Villa

Chinese style hotel (like the whole city of Mae Salong) offers individual rooms that look more like studios than "bungalows" as some reviews say, accessible from outside by a small path. Those with a veranda may lack privacy from other guests passing by, but this was not the case for mine, which was further back. The rooms are simple, a bit "old fashioned" but very decent and clean. Superb view of the valley and absolutely delicious Yunnan cuisine! The only downside is that the hotel is a bit out of the way from the city center. Bars nearby.

The Chinese-style hotel features small houses scattered in a welcoming and flowery terraced garden. The rooms, very sober and without charm, have poor bedding but they are sufficient for one night and above all, their balcony offers a beautiful view of the mountains (especially the rooms located at the top of the garden). A restaurant with a large terrace offers decent and inexpensive local and Chinese cuisine. Breakfast is included. The room service staff is particularly kind and deserves the good tip left for carrying our suitcases to the room.
