We fancied a trip to north Thailand after visiting Bangkok, and before travelling to the south of the country. So apart from the obvious Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, we were recommended this place by a friend. It was amazing! The resort has beautiful grounds and the accommodation, rustic and very clean. The people who worked here were so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you. There are small local shops providing coffee and lunch/dinner but admittedly, we stayed on site as the food was so good, including their local northern Thai cuisine. Delicious! There was also a small pool and bar. I booked a massage (in the room) and Ting was brilliant - I would highly recommend. The resort also provided trips with their own instructors which again, were excellent and highly recommended. We kept our plans fluid as happy to fit in with what the staff suggested. The resort is also home to an education centre where a number of international students are hosted. We felt privileged to have spent some time with the owners, Bryan and Rosie, and therefore found out about the ethos surrounding the resort and their passion for education - not only in welcoming international students with educational activities on site, but in supporting and developing the local communities (the students were helping to build a nursery school and were hands on with building the foundations and making the bricks too!) Bryan and Rosie have also supported a number of local initiatives including building a small school for local hill tribe children who were not able to get to school due to the distance required to travel. Overall, a must visit place but be prepared for the wonderful noise of teenagers enjoying themselves and laughing whilst they practice kayaking skills in the pond before they venture out onto the river: it provided a source of entertainment for my husband and I during breakfast
