Property Description
Welcome to Sheep Creek Cabin A! This beautifully appointed cabin comes fully equipped to host your family on your next Montana adventure. Whether you want to fish the blue ribbon waters of The Madison River or explore the natural wonders of Yellowstone National Park, our cabin's location will not disappoint you. Nestled into the Madison valley, surrounded by towering peaks, it is conveniently located between Ennis and West Yellowstone near the intersection of highway 287 and highway 87. This 20 acre property is about 50 miles southeast of Ennis and 32 miles northwest of the entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
The Sheep Creek Cabin A complex consists of two structures. Both Cabins have brand new heat and AC systems! Stay warm or cool no matter what the weather is doing outside!! The main cabin features a nicely appointed kitchen and dining room, with a large primary bedroom with king size bed on the main floor.
***Note to prior guests: we have just done an addition and added this brand new bedroom for the 2025 season! All work is done by the original cabin builder, maintaining the quality, aesthetics, and views of the cabin.
The main cabin also has a loft bedroom with three twin beds (can be configured as a king and a twin). There are comfortable leather sofas and a TV with high speed fiber streaming available in the living room as well. In the back portion of the cabin there is a washer, dryer, and full bathroom. Wireless high speed internet service and a phone line are also provided for use during your stay. The views from this cabin and its patio will take your breath away. Mountain ranges rise out of the sage brush flats in all directions creating a landscape that is sure to inspire you.
Steps away from the main cabin sits a separate sleeping cabin that contains a full size bed, queen size bed, and full bathroom. The Sleeping Cabin is located close enough for kids or guests on your trip yet also allows them their own space. This makes for a perfect setup for two couples or two small families. Outside on the deck you will find chairs for relaxing and a BBQ grill for those evening cookouts!
Wildlife abounds at times on the property as well as numerous places close by. Some of the creatures that can be seen from the cabins depending on the season are antelope, mule deer, bighorn sheep, coyotes, moose, rabbits, and bald eagles. If you take the scenic drive into West Yellowstone there are grizzly bears and wolves on display every day at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery center. Then grab lunch and milkshakes in town and head into Yellowstone National Park for a day of hiking, sight seeing, and photography. There are usually bison, moose, elk, deer, wolves, and more running wild around the 2,219,823 acre Park. Yellowstone Park is also home to the 109 foot tall Yellowstone falls, Old Faithful Geyser, and the numerous hot pots and hot springs.
In the nearby streams, rivers, and lakes you will find many species of trout awaiting the perfectly cast fly or lure. The Madison River located about a mile away, as the crow flies, is the #1 rated Blue Ribbon trout fishing river in the state. Or head a few scenic miles south into Idaho for more world-class fishing on Henry's Fork of the Snake River. If you prefer fishing on lakes or recreating with a boat, that's close by too. There are numerous lakes within a very short drive (less than 10 miles). These include: Quake Lake, Hebgen Lake, Henry's Lake, Conklin Lake, and Cliff and Wade Lakes.
There are several locations to rent boats, kayaks, canoes, and float tubes. Also near by are shops to buy fishing supplies, or sign up for guided fishing trips or horseback adventures!
Still looking for more to do? Take a drive to Virginia City. This is one of the neatest small towns in Montana. It has entertaining shows, great restaurants and bars. Or drive to Lewis and Clark Caverns and awe at the stalagmites and stalactites in a guided tour through the miles of underground caves and tunnels. Need another national park? Teton National Park is only two and a half hours away. Want to get your heart racing? Maybe go ziplining in Big Sky or white water rafting on the wild end of the Gallatin River.
When it comes to food there are two restaurants within 10 miles of the cabin and many more just a little further down the road. There are well stocked grocery stores in Ennis, Island Park, and West Yellowstone as well. If you're looking for an evening cocktail there are numerous watering holes just down the road that are sure to wet your whistle.

Just Amazing
The listing is accurate re amenities etc... great access to Yellowstone, and truly an unbelievable setting.Pros: Just feeling very privileged that this house is available for people to stay in as if it were their own home for a few days. It really was like heaven on Earth waking up in the beautiful sunlit valley.Cons: back door has a slightly janky knob, may need un-janking.

Relaxation Cabin
The cabin was exactly as described, and nestled amongst the bottom of a beautiful mountain range. Very cozy, and close to the Madison River (excellent for anglers). Also not far from Yellowstone! We would stay again in the future!

Clean cabin with awesome views!
This cabin was perfect for our trip to Yellowstone. The few minutes longer drive to the West Yellowstone park entrance was well worth it for the quiet location with mountain views and antelope and prairie dogs right outside. The cabin was very clean and well stocked.

Beautiful Remote Montana Cabin
We stayed in this cabin for 4 nights in July while exploring Yellowstone and fishing the Madison River. It is a good central location for both activities, but very remote...like most everything in Montana! One thing to keep in mind is that getting to the cabin is 2 miles down a gravel road, so have all your supplies before leaving town. We bought groceries in Bozeman thinking that there wouldn't be many options in Ennis, but actually Deemo's Meats in Ennis had a great selection of meat and the grocery store there was well stocked. The main cabin is comfortable and kitchen very functional. We packed a cooler daily with sandwiches, drinks and snacks to take in the park. We had some family who were staying in a campground nearby over one night for dinner and used the gas grill. It was fun hanging out on the porch together. The master bedroom is upstairs in the main cabin, and we were worried when we got there that it seemed much hotter than the downstairs, but it cooled off well at night. I would not recommend this cabin if you get up in the night, as the only bathroom is down a steep flight of stairs. This was not a major issue for us. The "back house" was where our teen boys got to have their own space, and they loved it! As you can see from the online pictures, the views are amazing! We weren't fortunate enough to see much wildlife other than ground squirrels and a few prong horn deer. I would book again if going to Yellowstone!

Cabin life.
We stayed a week and had a blast. We seen pronghorn sheep in the yard. We went to Yellowstone and Gand Teton National parks. We grilled out a couple of nights. The location was awesome. We also hiked the sheep creek trailhead right by the cabin and seen waterfalls and a mountain lake with bear and sheep sightings. Definitely would recommend

Great place just outside West Yellowstone
This was the perfect place for us to start our day trips to Yellowstone, about 30 minutes away from the West Yellowstone entrance. The cabin had everything we needed, was clean, nice hot shower, fully applianced kitchen and far enough away from town that it forced us to be in by 8 each night. We travelled with our 21 and 20 year old kids and did not want to be in town as that would bring on late nights. My son solo hiked Sheeps Creek trail and loved the small dammed lake at the end. Oh yeah, the views are spectacular day and night. We highly recommend.

Flyfishing the Madison River
A perfect location to quickly reach the fishing holes on the Madison. The cabin is well maintained and everything I was hoping for based on the property description and photos was accurate. Many thanks to the hosts for sharing this fantastic space.
