Murray Hotel

We were very happy at the historic Murray Hotel. Our room was clean, the beds were comfy and the shower was nice. We took advantage of the delicious morning donuts and all day coffee and tea. The entire staff was very efficient, friendly and helpful. We only have great memories of the Murray.

Walked the 4-5 blocks from the pier to the hotel and were met with a smile from the lady at the desk. Very friendly desk staff, and the hotel also brought our luggage from the pier to our room. When we checked out, a hotel porter carried our bags back to the pier. Really great service. The complimentary doughnuts and coffee in the mornings were not served with the same friendly service, however. Our room was very clean, but very small. I'm 5'10", 160 lbs and had to squeeze sideways between the bed and the wall; used the window ledge as my bedside table. There was very little storage space, and only one chair, though there was barely room for one chair. The TV was in the wardrobe which made it difficult to see unless you were sitting directly in front of the TV. The bathroom was small, but the shower was quite large, and there was plenty of hot water and water pressure. The sink was located in the bedroom, not in the bathroom. All in all, the Murray did a more than adequate job of meeting our needs; but for the price we paid, I was expecting a bit more space to relax.
