Disappointing Experience at Van der Valk Hotel Maastricht I do not recommend staying at Van der Valk Hotel in Maastricht. Unfortunately, our experience was underwhelming and left us quite disappointed, especially considering it was a special occasion — a birthday trip for my sister. Service and Communication: From the beginning, the level of service was lacking. The hotel did not provide basic information about available facilities such as wellness options. Misleading Website Information: One of the reasons I chose this hotel was the wellness and massage offer shown on the website. When I inquired at the reception, I was told to go to the second floor to ask about it. After not finding anyone there, I returned to the reception only to be told — by a different staff member — that they no longer offer massages and the website had not been updated. This inconsistency and poor communication were frustrating and very disappointing. Room Cleanliness: Upon entering the room, we found that the glasses were dirty. When I reported this to the reception, there was no apology — just a quick statement that they would be replaced. It felt unprofessional. Lack of Amenities: The website also mentioned a mini bar, but our room had no drinks — not even water. For a hotel of this standard, this is simply not acceptable. Overall, this stay did not meet our expectations. There was a lack of attention to detail, poor communication from staff, and the services advertised online did not match the reality. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves both their service and the accuracy of information provided to future guests.
