Como Maalifushi - Partner Travels Free for 7 Nights or More

We travelled at the end of January for our champagne supernova break at Como resort and we were truly blown away by the team who exceeded all of our expectations. Peter and his team are outstanding and our every need was superbly catered for and we can’t wait to return. A special mention to the exec chef Surama ( apologises if our spelling is a little off ) who adapted all of his outstanding dishes to cater for my need for gluten free. Nothing was too much trouble and the egg hooper breakfasts and the ceviche and curry fish caught on our sunset fishing trip were truly memorable. Pali concocted the most wonderful cocktails for us as we enjoyed the sunset slide away and butler Naail was always on hand to help us plan our days. Zulaal introduced us to so many dishes at breakfast with his little tasters and Jana looked after us at our morning snorkels before breakfast. Finally Shakeeb and his dive team went above and beyond and we have the memories to look back on. The wonder wall of the house reef has to be seen to be believe.

We are just back after 14 days at Como Maalefushi end of January 2025. This was the 7th trip to the Maldives. We have previously stayed at: Conrad Rangali, Constance Moofushi/Constance Halaveli, Vakkuru, Baros, and Atmosphere Kanifushi. I say this to put the following review into context. When my wife and I discuss where to go, we also consider if we should go back to one of the previous ones. This means that whatever we choose will be compared with one of the aforementioned places. Overall impression: I would say that Maalefushi deserves it's 5 stars. The Island is beautiful and generally there is what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Rooms: We had the "over water suite" (#312). This was probably the best room we've ever had on the Maldives; spacious, big functional bathroom, an amazing outdoor area overlooking the water. And for once the outdoor area had a pool where you could actually swim (I guess something like 8x3 meter). Overwater villas can get a bit noisy when the tide comes in (at night), but here it was not a big problem. The villa was very private, was an "end-villa", had neighbors to one side but not to the other. We used the two bicycles belonging to the villa everyday. Cleaning was great and there was always enough bottled water. Food: Well.... here my wife and I disagrees (!!). We were on half board and the way it works is that you chose your dinner from a menu that changes slightly every second day (there are also some "themes" 3 times pr week - barbecue, Lobster evening or Indonesian/Maledivan evening. They come at an additional cost, but we didn't try them). I could always find myself something on the normal menu, but it was a bit harder for my wife. And of course after 14 days, you feel that you have tried most of the options and it gets more tricky. They did offer us to choose from the room seervice menu the last days, which was good. I found the food was amazing. Sometimes on the Maldives meat dishes can be a bit of a challenge, but here the meat was amazing; everything from the Wagyu meet in the carpaccio (probably the best carpaccio I've ever had), to the veal and beef steaks. Most favourite dish: Lamb Biriyani. Amazing. The selection at the breakfast buffet with bread, juices and fruits is rather limited compared to other hotels. You can also order from a menu where the breakfast dishes are really good (all kind of egg dishes, nasi goreng, avocado toasts etc.) but of course you don't have the option of browsing through a big buffet to be inspired. There is also a Japanese restaurant (called Tai). We had read about it and wanted to try it, but we were not impressed. The food was OK, but the portiones were small and we were not full when we left. We had lunch only one day. That was very delicious (salat, french fries). We came to Como Maalifushi on December 21st for a Family holiday. We stayed for fourteen nights in three beach villas. There were nine of us, six adults, an eleven year old, an eight year old, and a one year old. We have had the most fabulous of holidays, Como Maalifushi you have not disappointed us. Everything from the start to the finish has been wonderful. The Christmas Eve, and New Years Eve Gala Dinners were outstanding. It was the best New Years Eve of my life. The hampers and gifts we have received during our stay were a very generous touch and we thank you for those. The staff are exceptional, very friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond, I can’t name you all because you are all exceptional but a special thanks goes to our butler Jalil, who took good care of us every step of our holiday. We thank you Team Como Maalifushi for a very special holiday as we return home with very special memories made that we will treasure forever.

Our stay exceeded all our expectations! From our family water villa, we could see hundreds of fish, turtles, rays, and even a few (harmless) sharks swimming around the villa in the house reef. We went on so many snorkeling trips during the week we stayed here—sunset snorkeling, turtle snorkeling—it was amazing. The diving was also spectacular. A heartfelt thanks to our dive master and manager of the diving school, Shaheeb, for helping my daughter complete her last two dives to earn her Open Water certification. The New Year dive was particularly special. The Christmas and New Year buffet dinners on the beach were beyond anything we could have imagined. A talented singer, Nish Nahid, made the evenings unforgettable with her incredible voice. All the staff were exceptionally professional, friendly, and accommodating. Our private butler (yes, we had a private butler for the first time!), Opal, was absolutely wonderful. She ensured, with subtle and thoughtful gestures, that we had the vacation of our dreams. The weather was also on our side—a week of sunshine that made the setting look like it was straight out of a magazine, just as beautifully presented on the resort’s website. The sunsets were the best we’ve ever seen. Truly unforgettable. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so magical!

Beginning with the seaplane flight and ending with the return seaplane flight…everything in between was beyond our expectations! Being greeted by Zayan , our butler , on arrival at the seaplane and personally escorted to our overwater villa.The room was beautiful, well appointed,very clean , lovely amenities and gorgeous uninterrupted view. As other reviews have mentioned , the personal attentiveness by all the staff is overwhelming and greatly appreciated. We had yoga classes every morning over the water , snorkeling every day from our villa and of the beaches. Kayaking anytime you wish and up close and personal with a few local turtles who feel safe in the resort areas…..we have been to many island resorts but none have had turtles so close and friendly. There is a huge amount of marine life around the resort although some coral has died off in areas due to the increase of water temperatures , this did not affect our experience. All meals were absolutely delicious, especially the Japanese Restaurant which we had dinner many times…. Sunset drinks are a must… Zayan made our stay enjoyable and effortless , but also not forgetting our waiters for breakfast and dinner , our yoga instructor , your personal life guard from Nepal watching over you as you swim out on the reef , our lovely hostess on our Romantic Beach Dinner from Bhutan….we were blown away by the diversity of countries and cultures that the Como Malafushi employ.

As a first time visitor to Maldives, the resort choices can be overwhelming. We had previously stayed at a different COMO property, so chose this one with confidence. We were not disappointed. The room, island, and staff are truly next level luxury. Highly recommend staying here if you have the option. Our large overwater villa was spacious and clean. The bicycles they leave for you give you the ability to explore the island. The spa and recreational staff are amazing and very helpful. The food choices and restaurants were all perfect.
