Cobb Arms

We absolutely loved our stay at The Cobb Arms. From the minute we got there the staff were welcoming and hospitable. They couldn't do enough for us. If we had questions they answered them and gave us as much help as they could, from giving us extra tea bags and sugar to serving up a lovely English Breakfast with beautiful Lattes. Special shout out to Luke who just was pleasant in every way and nothing was too much trouble for him to help us. All in all, a fantastic stay with amazing staff, beautiful decor and rooms, lovely hot bath and shower. Thank you so much for making my partners 60th birthday weekend one to remember!

We visited the Cobb whilst having a late afternoon walk with our dogs. It looked like a typical seaside town pub, however, we decided to stop for dinner as the menu catered for my wife’s intolerance to lactose. Luke took our order and was very professional and helpful. We made our choices and it wasn’t long before he arrived with our order. How impressed were we? The food looked fantastic, I had the Steak and Ale Pie and my wife had Butternut Squash and Spinach Pie. Both were very well presented and came with a jug of gravy and a side dish of beautifully cooked mixed vegetables. The only downside to our visit was two families with free range children which Adam the manager apologised for and offered to move us away from the melee. I suppose our early visit caught the young family brigade, but when we were parents of young children we certainly wouldn’t have allowed them to make so much noise, maybe an unfortunate bit of timing on our part. Anyway good beer, food, prices and service. Well done to all of the staff at the Cobb.

Perfect end to a lovely day What fabulous staff . Friendly pleasant and efficient. The menu choice was varied and well priced. Seated indoors looking over the harbour , we enjoyed a very tasty meal and would definitely recommend . Thanks so much

Ignore the promising signs outside The Cobb Arms at Lyme Regis advertising 'Portland Crab'... we had 'Lyme Bay Crab Sandwiches' with dill and creme freche (£15 each) which were a big disappointment. The crab was 'salmon pink' with the consistency and provenance of tinned crab paste with little evidence of dill or creme freche. Clearly standards have dropped since achieving a Gold 'Taste of The West' award in 2024... more like a 'Taste of Tinned John West'. Coupled with that the service was poor - and I am informed the ladies loo's were disgusting. There are better places to eat (and go to the loo), close by.

Great if you have dogs

We wanted to order some drinks, two adults and two children. I asked for a half pint and a full pint of lemonade and lime. To be told they only have the large lemonade bottles. I saw the two ltr bottles of lemonade in the fridges and pointed that out (I wanted our 8 yrs old to have the half pint). I was told she doesn’t make that decision it’s the management! The same applied for the Coke - only the large bottles. Shocking in my tactic to get you to buy the more expensive drinks rather than what you actually want. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone - feels like I have been ripped off -£12 for three soft drinks!
