Amazing place to stay, just what you would expect from an 18th century couching inn. They gave us a warm welcome and the rooms make you feel like you have stepped back in time, but with all the amenities of a good hotel. The bar is nice place for a beer with one of the best whisky selections I’ve seen outside of Scotland. The courtyard is a great addition to the bar, and a brilliant spot for a drink in the warm weather. We didn’t eat in the restaurant, but the breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had. The staff were helpful and very friendly.

I was very disappointed with the hotel and its facilities. I realise it is a listed building and very little could be done about access issues. (My booking did include the fact that I have access issues.) I could not use my wheelchair inside the building. I could not have a shower during the two days we stayed because there were two steps to get into the shower. We could not open the curtains because the Room (34) we were given was on pavement level of a busy street, people walking past could see into the room. The room was very dusty and needed a full deep clean. The chaise under the window was filthy with drink spills from previous guests not being removed. We did not unpack during our stay because we felt the wardrobe was filthy. There was only one bedside lamp. I did inform reception of these issues. My opinion of this hotel, is you should not be trading if you are operating with dirty skirting boards and furniture that needs a good polish. I did try to find a photo of room 34, but oddly none where available on any sites! Why? For me this stay was a reminiscence trip, having worked in Lutterworth more than fifty years ago, my disappointment was immeasurable. Having said all this, I have to say the food was very tasty, the food was fresh and cooked from scratch, which does not happen in lots of hotels nowadays. The staff were very friendly, professional and efficient, which was a credit to the hotel.

It is a unique property with a beautiful courtyard. It’s a little bit like a maze trying to find your room, but the room was spacious and well-appointed. The breakfast was very generous and delicious.

Characterful , comfortable old coaching Inn
Nice old coaching Inn style hotel . Room was small but comfortable. Breakfast excellent and freshly cooked . Dinner good but restaurant closed on Fridays . Reception very good- willing to adjust room to our needs- I chose a quiet room at the back as I like to open the window. Beautiful courtyard.
Lack of their own parking is a drawback but I used free parking in a road nearby and there is plenty of paid parking available. Good central location.
