I stayed for three nights total (one on the way up, and two on the way back down) at the wonderful Everest Summit Lodge in Pangboche as part of a one-month custom trek exploring the Khumbu region including the Everest Base Camp. I had one of the “deluxe” rooms with attached bath, which included a shower which I did not use as by mid-November at this altitude the weather is pretty frosty. The room was spotlessly clean, nicely decorated and very cozy, and I slept very comfortably with a hot water bottle provided by the management. There were two different dining areas in use, and both were kept warm by the central stoves fired up. The food was excellent — I stuck mostly to the Sherpa and Nepalese dishes such as thukpa, momos and dal bhat. What stood out the most though was the outstanding and welcoming hospitality provided by the owner. On the way back down from EBC we were welcomed like family, and given tea and cake upon our arrival, a really appreciated gesture. I highly recommend this little gem of a lodge!
