This is a refugee / asylum / homeless shelter now. Irish homeless people made unwelcome. What was once apparently a beautiful venue is now downtrodden and filled with the downtrodden. Poor and nasty managers toss homeless into the street without warning.

Such a beautiful place to relax in. The staff were incredibly so attentive and friendly. We ate in the restaurant the food was very good (a lot of the wine on the menu was not available unfortunately) but apart from that it was top class. Breakfast was absolute gorgeous and the lady so friendly and attentive again. We will be back to this wonderful property a great place to relax and chill.

Well I have been coming to Finnstown House for celebrations for about 35 years. It’s a fallback favourite. At least it used to be. Unfortunately I will not be back, ever. It’s lost all charm, ambience and atmosphere. The grounds are now sold off, and built up with apartments overlooking the hotel. So it’s not a country manor experience any longer. The hotel itself is very worn, a bit shabby and well used. Beautiful arrangements of silk flowers throughout are a bit tacky. I had afternoon tea with my daughter, it was expensive at €59 for tea for two. I almost hate to say i, but I would have been better off spending €10 at Lidl and creating a higher quality experience at home. Sandwich’ were a little sad and basic, didn’t taste bad at all but blah! The scone was dry and maybe stale and really poor quality not home made which for €60 I’d expect something more than the pot of tea to have been made by the hotel. No butter served , the cakes were an embarrassing disaster. A selection of bottom shelf discounted grocery store confections, cut in half and thrown on a plate. I know this is a harsh review and it pains me to write it as I used to love Finnstown House so much. But if you are reading this, please save your money and go anywhere else instead. I feel it’s curtain call for Finnstown house as it’s being swallowed by housing estates and nekghborhood kids are riding their bikes and walking their dogs through what’s left of the garden. I have assumed two stars because the hard working waitress deserves a call out for holding so much responsibility on her shoulders. She seemed to be doing everything.

This hotel is closed, it is being used as an accommodation centre. The Mansfield family-owned hotel ceased operating to the public in early December 2022. The hotel is used as accommodation for people on the homeless housing list for South Dublin County Council.

I stayed at the hotel with family during a short break to Ireland. I found the staff friendly and the hotel clean, comfortable, and good value for money. The only issue we had was on the day of checkout. I contacted the manager Barry regarding this issue and he replied by saying he would investigate and respond within a week. Unfortunately, this was now two months ago and I have tried to contact the hotel since without success. This has now marred the experience and my opinion of the hotel as it has left me feeling like guests' concerns are not taken seriously.

I met 3 of my friends for afternoon tea and we had a fantastic afternoon. The presentation of the room was beautiful and very comfortable and the staff were excellent and very attentive. The food was delicious and there was plenty and doggy bags were no problem. We had a lovely day, many thanks to the staff for the wonderful hospitality!

From the time we arrived for Afternoon Tea , Marina was wonderful, professional and courteous. My elderly mother and I arrived first and while waiting for my sister and her boys we were offered tea/ coffee. The array of sandwiches, cakes and scones with clotted cream and jam was lovely. My sister had a special O Birthday and Marina brought a muffin with a candle and sang Happy Birthday to her. The room was old world and beautiful with Queen Anne chairs and lovely views of the garden. We got endless cups of tea / coffee and no rush to leave or vacate table. Lovely linen tablecloths and napkins . Nice bathroom “Ritual“Toiletries. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Marina for adding a special touch to a special occasion.
