I’ve been a regular if infrequent guest to the Slaughters Manor House for afternoon tea for the last 21 years. As much as I was impressed when I first went there and for the following few years, I have witnessed a steady decline over the last 15 years and our experience this week was so poor that I will never return. The service was poor, we had to ask for milk to go with our tea three times, at no time of our visit were we asked if everything was okay, we had to wait a considerable amount of time to get the bill. The presentation of the afternoon tea was poor with very cheap crockery. The food was just as disappointing as the service. The cakes just tasted of sugar, the sandwiches were bland. The scones were the only food that was okay, but they came with the smallest amount of clotted cream. The Slaughters Manor used to be the highlight at the end of a beautiful Cotswolds walk. No more.
