Had a generally nice stay but the Camellia restaurant was genuinely dreadful. Serving staff were great but management very poor and the food was terrible. Sirloin steak for two was possibly the worst steak I’ve had in twenty years, almost entirely fat. When queries on this the manager argued with me on it. Just bad service.

We stayed with a group of friends while attending Goodwood Revival (classic car festival) close by. The hotel has huge charm and character and has benefited from major upgrades in recent years. The staff were lovely and friendly as well as attentive- a special mention to Cedric in the bar and Matthew in the restaurant. The Spa Center (completed in 2019) is nothing short of spectacular. While exploring the hotel I noted that they have an excellent event/conference/wedding area too at a separate end of the hotel.

We just got back from a lovely couples break at South Lodge Hotel and Spa. We really loved the Spa facilities and setting, but unfortunately this was not matched in the hotel. There were a few small in instances at the hotel which could have improved the stay. For example: - In the room, the plug socket next to my bed did not work, and neither did two jets in the shower. - When calling guest services from the room, they did not pick up after ringing for a long time. When I did get through, I asked if they could help me source a comb as I had forgotten to pack my hairbrush, however they said they could not help me with my request. - We had asked for milk with our tea at breakfast, but the restaurant explained that they were dairy free and could not accommodate our request as they could only bring us non dairy alternatives. These incidents did not ruin the stay, but it was clear that the service offered in the hotel was not the same standard as we have previously experienced in other Exclusive hotels, such as Pennyhill Park.

We had a great time at the South Lodge Hotel, were able to use the spa area for the first time and were thrilled with the indoor and outdoor facilities. The staff served us in all areas with exceptional joy and enthusiasm, which I have never experienced in any hotel before. Our dinner in the Pass Restaurant was also an extraordinary journey. please keep it that way. We were also served first-class dishes and service in the Camilia restaurant. I wish it didn't end. I can only recommend the hotel highly, regardless of whether it is for business purposes, leisure, a wedding or an event. Many thanks to every single person in the hotel who worked in their area of responsibility.

Sunday lunch 65th Birthday celebration in the Camellia Room with family was stunning. Staff, as always, friendly, attentive and fun. The pre drinks bar is also to be recommended Don't go as often as we would like, but never fails to impress. We will return! Soon

We spent one night at this beautiful hotel on our way home from a very disappointing and overpriced two night stay at The Hand and Flowers in Marlow. South Lodge is stunning. The staff, service, room, grounds and the Food in The Pass are all faultless. We felt welcomed and relaxed from the moment we arrived. We will definitely be back. Thank you to all.

Visited for my husband’s birthday and the hotel was perfect. Service was impeccable, we didn’t have to lift a finger. The grounds, and hotel were stunning. The spa and treatments were fabulous. The food at Camellia, headed up by Tom Hamblett was probably our favourite part of the visit. The food had a maturity about it that was much more refined than a chef of Tom’s young years. We followed him on Masterchef and booked the hotel and restaurant before he won, as we were confident he would and didn’t want to miss out on his residency as head chef. Loved every second, thank you to the team at South Lodge.

Stayed one night with a friend for a spa treat. Hotel lovely great service. Room nice views weird decor in bathroom - brown tiles and blue walls. Quite traditional but some of it is modern and trying to look old but it didn’t work in some areas for me. Staff excellent. Restaurant Camelia very good service, lovely food. Quite traditional particularly wine list. We had a lovely glass of Verdejo at pool bar but nothing similar in restaurant. Some young diners so I think this would be popular. Spa very large, and quite busy. Difficult to find outdoor beds. Natural pool lovely , not heated, a bit slimey on the bottom that I didn’t like but I suppose it’s trying to be natural. Massage very good but with service charge came to almost £200 for an hour which is very overpriced I think compared to similar other places. Might go back but definitely not pay that for a massage again.

I visited South Lodge with my mum for her 70th birthday and the staff were amazing at making it special, wishing her happy birthday and adding touches in the room. We had afternoon tea when we arrived, which was lovely, we’d highly recommend. We walked around the grounds using the map provided, which are beautiful and visited the spa which is stunning, the wild swimming pool is so refreshing and such a unique experience. Dinner at the botanica and breakfast at the Camilla were also both fantastic. Overall a wonderful luxury stay.
