I wish I could give a 100 for friendliness . Where do I start:
1. The bed - was the most comfortable one we slept in a long time
2. Everybody was fantastic , helping us and accommodating all our needs
3. The food - was absolutely out of this world!

The location is lovely and quite difficult to find and when we did arrive I thought that it was closed! however once that I had found Xavier and we had been taken to our spacious atic bedroom everything improved and the whole place came to life. The room was infact two rooms with two beds. Very comfortable with nice bed linen. 18 guests sat down for dinner with a comprehensive menu and an interesting breakfast the following morning. The atmosphere is for those who like to step back in time and Xavier puts in a great effort to accomodate all your needs.

We stayed for two nights in this beautifully located hotel. We found that both the hotel and the restaurant are very good value for money!! The hotel is located in Longpont next to the ruined abbey. The village is tiny and really pitoresque. We got a very warm welcome. The rooms are rather small and most of them have been very tastefully decorated (the others are in the process of being re-decorated)The restaurant serves real traditional French country cuisine of a very good quality! We thoroughly enjoyed our two dinners there by the fireplace!! Breakfast is served in a beautiful little room and apart from the traditional continental breakfast items, we also had cheese and ham as well as smoked ham, eggs, fromage blanc, pancakes and yoghurts. We visited also the antique shop next to the hotel which had a very good selection of items. We really enjoyed staying there and appreciated the advice of Benoit about places to visit in the area!!(and there are plenty!!) We will be back!!!

Nous avons séjourné à l'hôtel de l'Abbaye début juin 2013. Voici une merveilleuse auberge , un de ces rares endroits où nous avons trouvé tout ce que l'on peut souhaiter : le cadre, les environs,le calme, l'accueil, la bonne table, l'atmosphère ,la convivialité , et le confort. En un mot : le bien-être total. Hautement recommandable : nous y retournerons au plus vite , et sans la moindre hésitation !

En marche sur un chemin de mémoire entre Villers-Cotterêts et Verdun, notre première étape était dans cet hôtel de charme situé dans un très beau village à l'ombre des ruines d'une abbaye que l'on peut voir de la chambre. Calme assuré, très grande chambre, cuisine excellente dans le cadre du jardin de cet établissement, amabilité de son dirigeant, M. Verdun, grand connaisseur de nombreuses abbayes de France. En conclusion un lieu magique que l'on aimerait trouver souvent sur notre route...ou chemin.

This is the kind of place you would like to keep secret because it is so special and so unspoiled. It’s the archetype of a French hotel, old fashioned in a very positive way. The staff is super friendly, the room small but pleasant, the surroundings picture perfect and the food in the restaurant delicious. In summer you eat in the garden, in winter in front of a fireplace.

Personnellement, Une vraie découverte , j’ai énormément apprécié le lieu chargé d’histoire ! même si j’étais loin de chez moi , après un long périple un peu stressant , Je le suis senti comme à la maison ! Un accueil chaleureux, repas au coin de la cheminée , personnel à l’écoute . Un cadre dépaysant ... ! Que du bon !

Accueil chaleureux, bonne connaissance de la région. Petit village charmant, un vrai retour dans le passé. Je n'ai pris que le déjeuner du midi, mais le repas était parfait. N'hésitez pas à goûter la bière St Rieul issue d'une brasserie régionale locale. Les menus vont de 19 à 35€, c'est copieux, très bon et bien chaud (ce qui est de plus en plus rare !)
