The web site had a photo of a lush looking pie served on top of red cabbage and carrot battons. Not a side dish of peas. Please update the web site to reflect this. On ordering we were told there was no short crust pastry option as the supplier had let them down. Doesn’t an award winning pie establishment make their own pastry? The puff pastry option was a dish with a piece of puff pastry dropped on top, not a pie. I had the chicken and leak. Not so much chicken and very little if any leaks.

Had a really good nights sleep here. Soft pillows and firm bed. Location really good as were visiting Ross on Wye, although it is a short drive away (not walkable). It was close to Gloucester which we also visited. Breakfast was really good and the pub had a nice ambiance. Note that this is a 3 star hotel and we paid 97 for a double room so quite pricey however it was a saturday night. Room on the small side, number 4. Rooms are cabin types in a separate area accessed by a gate behind the hotel.

This pub is warm and welcoming. It is tastefully decorated. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is great. They’re apparently well known for their pies which having tried one I can confirm! The only downside is the pub is a bit outside Ross on Wye and taxis are difficult to come by but that’s hardly the pubs fault. When staying there you need to be prepared to drive if you want to visit Ross on Wye. We would highly recommend staying there.

The room was rather small but pleasant. Both the bed and the pillows were comfortable. Hubby couldn't get the television to work to show normal terrestrial TV. It was difficult to fill the kettle as the sink in the bathroom was so shallow. The shower was small with a tiny sliding door which did not allow much room to get in and out. Also the shower base had a large crack the full length along the middle. The outside courtyard was nice but a couple of the chairs were broken. The Full English breakfast was enjoyed by my hubby but sadly the boiled eggs I had were hard and there was no butter on the toast soldiers. Overall, it was a nice night's stay but I won't be in a hurry to go again.

A classic British country pub, lots of character, very clean, friendly staff, plenty of choice for food and drinks, the beer garden is a good size e with a good play area for the kids.. I don't like mash so I asked if I could swap for chips, the answer was yes, but it'll cost you another £3.50 but you can keep the mash too! I had neither, never been to a place that don't accommodate swaps like that or doesn't give that choice of sides anyway.. the food did take a while to come, they did forget a few items which we had to prompt them on, we were checked on which is always nice but none of our party were overly impressed with the food, I had the game pie and to be honest, it just tasted like a good quality beef and onion pie with a bit of red wine thrown in, was ok but next time we'll stop somewhere else.

Rang in advance to check they would be serving food at 5pm and was told yes. Drove there and find out the chef doesn't arrive until 6pm! Not happy . .

Staff are some of the best I’ve experienced everyone is so happy and friendly they couldn’t be more welcoming. Food never fails. I will always come back. Great beer garden for the summer. Dogs welcome which is amazing also. Could not fault this place atal.
