Palmer's Ale House

Return visits don't disappoint I think this is the 3rd or 4th time I've stayed at Palmers and as always the staff were really welcoming. the pub has a great ambience and the food is excellent. Rooms are small but very clean and comfortable.

We decided to visit Palmer’s Ale House (Long Sutton) for Mother’s Day, expecting a pleasant meal, but instead, we were met with some of the worst service we’ve ever experienced. We had paid a £10 per person deposit (for three people), but when we arrived, we were seated right by the door, where people waiting to be seated were practically hovering over our table. This made for an uncomfortable and unpleasant dining experience, so we politely asked if we could switch to a different table. Instead of accommodating us, the manager and staff were incredibly rude and dismissive, making it clear they had no interest in providing even basic customer service. After realizing how unwelcome we felt, we decided that we would just eat our meal and leave. The manager’s attitude was condescending and unprofessional, even questioning why we wouldn’t order drinks in a rude and unnecessary manner. At that point, we asked if we could have our deposit refunded so we could go elsewhere, given that we hadn’t even ordered food yet. They refused, claiming they had already “paid for the food” – despite the fact that we hadn’t placed an order. The entire experience was frustrating and disappointing, and unfortunately, this level of service seems to be the norm here, as reflected in their 3.6-star TripAdvisor rating. If you’re looking for a place with good hospitality and decent customer service, avoid Palmer’s Ale House. We certainly won’t be returning.

Perfect for work Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere of the pub was perfect after a decent drive and the choice of beers were great. Room was clean, comfortable and breakfast was made for my early check out. Will definitely stay here next time I'm in the area

Best place to stay in the area Nice accommodation, rather small room with only a small top roof window, but very nice and modern bathroom. Super soft bed. Lovely people in the adjoining pub with great food and service

I'll be back A hidden gem. Nice room, and a good breakfast. The pub looked good restaurant looks good. There is no car park but this is not a problem. Ample on street parking from just outside the door.
