We stayed here for 2 nights . The hotel is lovely. We had room 2 which was huge with a separate sitting room. Comfortable bed and spacious bathroom with lovely products. Bathroom had chipped bath and the bath panel was flaking. Sunday lunch and the breakfast were great. We had a cheese board that was terrible. The biscuit you would need a hammer to break and the cured meat was hard at the edges and curling. When we mentioned this to the duty manager she just shrugged her shoulders. On check out we mentioned it again to Maddie (who was the best member os staff) and she said that was not the first complaint she had had re the hard biscuits. Chef offer a choice of bread and edible crackers. Generally good, but let down on finer details .

We throughly enjoyed our first visit ,the staff were very helpful and informative.
The room was clean and well equipped.
The food was also to a high standard and a good choice.

Everyone super nice. The room was gorgeous! The location, the view and food out of this world. My kids absolutely love it. The Sunday Roast was amazing.

A lovely hotel/restaurant/bar, very friendly staff in a really nice place to eat/drink. We had the Sunday roast which was beautiful, we also had a a breakfast which was lovely, both meals served nice and freshly cooked, open to non residents, it’s a short stroll from the centre of Long Melford but very well worth a visit.

Staff are very friendly and the room was large & comfortable [although pity they only provide 1 coat hangar]. The bathroom is great with a nice large shower. The bed was comfy but the mattress sounds on its way out with creaking springs. Dinner was excellent & very well presented. The only downside was the Australian wine which was £28 but had that harsh taste of really cheap plonk. Breakfast was also very good. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay here & plan to return some time in the future.

Disappointing after 2 lovely previous stsys
Disappointed with this stay after 2 lovely stays previously.
Biggest issue was after paying for a more superior room, the bed was two very uncomfortable single beds put together. The matresses were uncomfortable leading to a really poor nights sleep.
Other than that the room was cold and there was dubious staining on the bench seat at the end of the bed.

Lovely New Years Eve stay , great room overlooking the green . Returned from a walk around the spectacular church at midnight to be greeted by 2 glasses of bubbly .

Great stay at The Black Lion Great Melford
Absolutely delightful 3-night stay at this lovely historic Inn. Staff were all professional, hard working, courteous and polite. Couldn't do enough for us.
Breakfast was delicious with top quality ingredients - cooked to perfection.
We had dinner two nights - again, lovely ingredients, really well cooked.
All in all the perfect place to stay to enjoy the wonderful village and church. Will definitely come again
