I love the Notting Hill neighborhood. This trip I tried the Portobello Hotel as both of my usual hotels were booked. When the cab pulled up out front I knew I would love it. It's off Portobello Road by a couple streets so feels like a neighborhood and is much quieter away from the throngs of tourists. There was a cheerful, helpful presence at the desk by the front door at all hours of the day and night. I chose one of the smallest rooms, perfect for me as a solo traveler. It might prove quite tight for a couple. The shower is small and opens into the room. The W/C and sink are in a separate very small room. Blackout shades, a very comfy bed, and blissful quiet helped me easily sleep through the night. Quirky, fun decor included antiques and kitschy details. The minibar is ensconced in an old suitcase. Refrigerator, cups, glasses, water bottles, coffee maker provided everything I needed. Housekeeping and cleanliness were excellent. I loved being close to my favorite restaurants and shops. I went with room only as I like going out for breakfast, so cannot speak to breakfast at the hotel. I am already planning a return visit here in the fall.

Ein altes kleines zauberhaftes Hotel in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Portobello Road Market und sehr ruhiger Umgebung. Die Metro ist ca. 15 min zu Fuß entfernt. Ich hatte einen Marvelous Room für mich alleine. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist wie meistens in London nicht ausgewogen. Aber das wusste ich vorher. Das Hotel ist wie aus einer anderen Zeit entsprungen. Alles etwas "run-down", etwas dunkel, aber sehr charmant. Mein Zimmer hatte ein neues Bad mit Super Dusche und sehr schönem Shampoo und Duschgel (Eigenmarke des Hotels) und eine Art Ankleide mit einer nicht richtig funktionierenden Kommode und statt eines Schranks Haken an der Wand mit ein paar Bügeln. Das Bett war weich und bequem. Das Zimmer ging nach hinten zum Park raus, wobei die Gegend sowieso ziemlich ruhig ist. Das Personal ist hilfsbereit und freundlich. Es gibt ein kleines aber ausreichendes Frühstück, das man vorher anmelden sollte, da die Plätze sehr begrenzt sind. Check in ist nicht vor 16 Uhr. Aber das Gepäck kann ohne Probleme vorher abgestellt werden. Es wird auch aufs Zimmer gebracht. Ein Fahrstuhl ist vorhanden. Abends steht die Honesty Bar zur Verfügung. Wer alte Hotels mit Charme mag und bereit ist Abstriche an der einen oder anderen Funktionalität zu machen, ist hier genau richtig.

Great room, great location and Amrim on the front desk was amazing. The bed was super comfortable and the bath with the view of the garden was superb. The honesty bar could do with a few improvements but that is a very very small gripe in an otherwise great stay.

Moths in the room. Moth eaten carpet. Dirty room. Didn’t refresh the amenities in the room. Mediocre breakfast. Tasteless coffee. Would not return. Very disappointed.

Great hotel in Notting Hill
Excellent find in a great location. Room was on the small side but very comfortable. Lovely building and friendly staff. I am sure I will be returning.

We had a wonderful stay at The Portobello Hotel! The staff was wonderful, location was ideal for walking/ underground transport and overall the hotel had a comfortable vibe for the rainy London weather!

This was a quirky nice hotel in a beautiful area of London. The garden facing room we stayed in for 9 nights was perfect. There was plenty of room for our belongings. The room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. We had an enormous bathroom with a separate shower and separate tub . The staff was very friendly and helpful especially Evelyn. We will definitely return on our next trip to London
