Felt like I was sleeping on the M6 hard shoulder
Nice looking building, nice staff, nice bar on the ground floor.
It is only once you go to the hotel accommodation that is really goes down hill. I didn't mind the "shabby chic" angle they were intentionally or unintentionally going for.
The linen was clean but the beds are very uncomfortable. And whilst there is no toilet in the rooms and you have to walk quite far through the communal area for a pee or a shower this was not the worst part.
The worst is the noise. I'm not sure which was worse, the shouting and roaring of the punters from the nearby pubs, the idling buses that sit chugging away right outside your window at the bus stop or the booming music from the cars waiting on red lights at the junction beside the window.
You may think this is an exaggeration but I woke up at one point around 4am and thought I was sleep in the middle of a busy motorway.
The windows are very old and I am sure they are possibly too expensive to replace but they don't shut properly and provide zero sound insulation which isn't ideal when you front onto a very very busy road.
