The Hotel America is located right on Locarno's wonderful Piazza Grande. Here you can enjoy Mediterranean piazza life to the fullest. The rooms are clean and the prices are relatively reasonable, but it is advisable to book early and online. You can have brunch in the Hotel-café on the piazza in the morning, but this is charged separately. If you enjoy spending hours with friends in the balmy air, sipping a genuine Italian espresso or a Martini Royale and chatting, or if you prefer to read a book or write something on your Laptop, this is the place to relax in a cosy, communal atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and attentive. All in all, highly recommended for an affordable short break in the Locarno-Ascona region. The breathtakingly beautiful Centovalli area is just 10 minutes away by bus/train. Unfortunately, the Hotel America is already fully booked for the Locarno Film Festival 2025.

A inizio marzo 2025, mi sono trovata in questo locale per caso con alcuni amici. Era una splendida giornata di sole e siamo stati accolti in un ambiente molto accogliente. Abbiamo ordinato dei cocktail, preparati con grande cura da Alessandro, che si è dimostrato non solo un barman esperto, ma anche una persona gentile e disponibile. Con professionalità ci ha consigliato alcune cose da visitare nei dintorni, rendendo la nostra esperienza ancora più piacevole.

Immer sehr freundliches und aufgestelltes Personal. Sehr schöne und gepflegte Zimmer. Das Essen an der Piazza mit passender Musik ist top. Im Hotel ist ein wunderschönes Restaurant und man fühlt sich wie in einer alten Burg. Sensationell und man fühlt sich sehr wohl. Wir freuen uns sehr auf das nächste Mal, vielen Dank an alle.

charming hotel, front desk guy was SO helpful & nice. it is hard to find - i stopped at a pharmacy to ask for location, they didn't know & it was about 3 minute walking beyond. to find it, you can walk from the train station (10-15 min) towards the main plaza, keep going almost to the end. on the right tucked in the back, after the shops, is the entrance. only complaint is no tv channels in english. which normally isn't important, except that everything in the town except restaurants closes by 6pm so relaxing in the evening with tv is not going to happen. otherwise, loved it!

Ganz spontan habe ich zwei Tage in Locarno verbracht, ein Hotel gesucht und mit dem Albergo America eine perfekte Unterkunft gefunden. Ich werde sicher wieder einmal kommen.

Incredible stay
Family owned, amazing stay and gracious hosts. The co-owner, (Manuel) was helpful planning our stay and was so excited to show us his hotel. From the unique Grotto, its history to the history of Lacarno. His English was impeccable and we felt very welcome and relaxed.

Habe mit meiner Tochter 4 Nächte im Hotel verbracht. Freundliches Personal und gutes Frühstück. Hatten ein sehr kleines Zimmer, doch sonst alles in Ordning!
