The staff are welcoming, friendly, polite and hard working. Our room was on the top floor number 11. A lovely large room with a king size comfortable bed. As it’s an old building, the floor was very uneven but that added to the character of the room. However, The bed headboards, desk and table were covered in dust, the shower had mould on the tile grout and one of the shower doors was off the bottom slide so you could only stand at the one side. The breakfast options were limited for cereal choice and only orange juice available for cold drinks. The cooked breakfast was ok, fairly basic for a cooked breakfast, but there was not an alternative for vegetarian options e.g. Quorn sausages. The evening meal was not great. My first option though on the menu was not available. My second option was fish and chips. The fish was disgusting. For a ‘restaurant ‘the fish seemed like a frozen cod fillet similar to, but worse than Birds Eye or Youngs. I had to return my fish as it was inedible. When I informed the staff about the fish, they took the cost of the meal off the bill, which I thought was a positive. Would I return again? Probably not as I won’t be staying in that area again. If I were to return it would not be to this hotel.
