Somewhere between a bed-and-breakfast and a small luxury hotel, the staff go above and beyond to make your stay very comfortable. The gem of this location is the restaurant which is perfect for a couple, but not suitable for kids. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Ty Mawr is an undiscovered gem set in the middle of the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside. Stepping across the threshold we were given a very warm welcome and made to feel at home. We had come a fair distance so the offer of a cup of tea and a slice of Bara brith was well received by two thirsty travellers! The hotel is very clean and the rooms generous in size. The highpoint though is the restaurant. We were served the most delicious, locally sourced food with fabulous homemade bread. I suggest that you go soon and enjoy a restful stay.

The hospitality was the best we’ve experienced, Gill and David were great hosts. The atmosphere was really warm and cosy. We got a King room and it was clean and comfy. David helped me and my girlfriend pick out a hiking route and even offered to pick us up in an emergency!

We stayed here last weekend (couple plus 1yr old dog). Our first experience in a dog friendly hotel. David welcomed us in the most cosiest of settings as you enter the building. We were upgraded to the beautiful ground floor apartment which made it much easier for the middle of night toilet activity of our 1yr old dalmatian. It was my partners birthday on the day of our arrival and David kindly left us a bottle of prosecco and a hand written card which made it feel even more personal and welcoming. All the guests were incredibly friendly and the pub in the village was also as welcoming and cosy. We stayed for dinner of tapas which was incredibly filling and enjoyable. Great access to the surrounding countryside for walks. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again when in the area whether with dog or not.

What a lovely warm welcome we had ! On arrival we were offered coffee or tea and homemade Bara Brith , and we sat by a cosy fire and chatted with other guests. A large bedroom , dog friendly , with everything we could wish for. Slept like babies in a very large bed. Breakfast was plentiful with a great selection to choose from. We had a two night stay , and had Tapas on both evenings . Good choice and very tasty. The Saturday morning cake/ savoury sale , a regular event, was a huge hit. And it was great to meet some of the locals , who were quick to recommend their favourite picks. Most helpful. It’s a lovely area to stay in , with lots of walks close by. But we went to Ty Mawr to chill , and that’s certainly what we did. Thank you all , for making our stay so relaxing . We hope to see you all again soon.

Great little country hotel and restaurant providing good quality accommodation and excellent food, sourced from local producers. Despite some grey Winter weather, our trip was enhanced by a warm welcome, a warm room and toasty fires in cosy surroundings. Our room was reasonably well appointed - the dressing gowns, sofa and good quality toiletries were all nice touches - but the food, both supper and breakfast - was tremendous. Notwithstanding a relatively small menu - something I actually like as it suggests everything is being freshly prepared - both my pescatarian wife and I could both find dishes to enjoy. The monk fish - a pleasant change from the ubiquitous salmon and sea bass - was particularly good and the pig cheeks super tasty! Breakfast too was freshly prepared with a good variety of offerings, including fresh fruit - hurrah! I can imagine it is a particularly nice spot in the warmer months with good outside spaces but our Winter sojourn was delightful.

We had been looking forward to our first Christmas break at Ty Mawr since last summer and were certainly not disappointed. From the moment we walked into reception to be greeted warmly by David (and Busta!), we knew were were going to enjoy a perfect Christmas. Hosts Gill and David are a superb partnership, with Gill working her magic in the kitchen so that every meal was perfectly presented and of outstanding quality. Christmas lunch will not be forgotten for a long time!! David and Gill are great supporters of local suppliers from whom they source much of their produce and even gins and beers! David, with his calm manner and sense of humour is in his element as front of house. This small Grade II period country hotel has a very warm, relaxed, informal atmosphere and was seasonally decked throughout, with a cosy log burner in the spacious, homely lounge. Nothing is too much for the hosts and we were very touched to receive a generous surprise parcel from Santa outside our room on Christmas morning. The ensuite bedrooms are very well appointed, with views over the garden and quiet village. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in! We would highly recommend a stay at Ty Mawr any time of year, since the garden with a meandering stream would be stunning in spring and summer. There are plenty of opportunities to walk and visit nearby nationally renowned gardens and historical sites. With only six double rooms available we would recommend early booking to avoid disappointment! We will certainly return.
