The New White Lion

I have no hesitation in giving Karen and Mark (and Poppy), of the New White Lion, a 5 star review. The B&B was a home from home - communal areas were warm and welcoming (with drinks and homemade snacks available at all times), the dining room was stylish and my bedroom was so lovely that I took a little video and sent it to my daughter. I checked, ahead of time, if there would be vegan food available and, I can honestly say, it was some of the best food I have experienced. Karen is a wonderful chef, using local ingredients and cooking everything from scratch and Mark is the perfect host. I recommend this B&B fully and would love to return next time I visit the Brecon Beacons are of Wales.

Just stayed for 4 nights , just perfect absolutely amazing hospitality from Karen and Mark breakfast was first class using all local produce with plenty of choice and the service was equally first class . Llandovery is a lovely wee town with lots character to explore it’s perfect for short or long stays

If you are visiting the Brecon Beacons or Landovery area in Wales I highly recommend the New White Lion. The owners - Karen and Mark Kirkby - are a fabulous couple who welcome you warmly and can’t do enough for you. Karen is a chef so the quality and variety of food was outstanding, and all rooms exquisitely decorated with a warm cosy feel. I stayed four nights in room 1 and had a wonderful experience. If you fancy a walk around the local area, the village is also lovely with bespoke independent shops including Judy’s ice cream parlour, patisserie, vintage shops, the Bear pub and so much more. It exceeded my expectations and I was totally impressed - make sure to book the afternoon tea - it will be a memorable experience. Attaching a few pics of breakfast and my room.

It was my first visit to Llandovery and what a wonderful little town it was, and to have a hotel as nice as The New White Lion was an added bonus. The room was to the highest of standards, the breakfast was lovely, and they had so many options to choose from but the hosts were just amazing. Mark & Karen were so accommodating and welcoming, you couldn't ask for better hosts. I would highly recommend this hotel and if I visit Llandovery again, I will be staying there.

Our first visit to Llandovery and spent 3 nights at The New White Lion. There are not enough words to recommend the wonderful hosts Karen and Mark. Nothing was too much trouble they catered for our every need and more. Such a relaxing chilled environment especially after a full days of activities! There was a lounge to chill in and an honesty bar which was a wonderful added touch, free tea, coffee the most delicious hot chocolate and free homemade cookies , cakes and pastries, a real quiet country house setting. The rooms were beautifully presented with each one having its own individual touch, free toiletries (shower gel / bath soak, shampoo etc) that were topped up. Karen and Mark really know how to make you feel so welcome. Lastly the breakfasts, just wow! Cannot give enough stars to say how great they were which included home made croissants, home made sour bread, full English and so much more. Karen really went over and above to make sure we had whatever we wanted and all the food was delicious . Another added bonus was the detailed information and recommendations that Karen and Mark gave for places to visit and places to eat our evening meal. We will certainly be back.

Our stay here was just perfect. Where to begin…The rooms are spacious and clean, there are luxurious soaps, chocolats etc. Breakfast is super, there is a very nice living room with free coffee, tea and pastries. And the hosts are really friendly, giving advice on walking tours and other activities. So the best B&B we have seen, definitely worth a visit!

What A Gem!!! We have high quality self catering in North Wales, so when we do go away, we like to treat ourselves to something special,, We were so pleased with our Choice in The NWL,,!! Karen, Mark & Poppy,, looked after us impeccably!! Their Hospitality & attention was/is second to none!! We stayed in The Phyicians of Myddfai Suite ! Absolutely Outstanding!! We would Definitely recommend a stay here, and we hope to return to this wonderful establishment soon!! Dez & Charli

We were a hot air balloon team that took four of the rooms for a weekend stay in May whilst flying from Llandovery. Each of the rooms was very well appointed, had an individual boutique style and was really comfortable. Mark and Karen were the perfect hosts, accommodating a very late arrival by two of the team, some early starts and flexible breakfast times, all with good grace. As mentioned by other reviewers, the breakfasts are very special indeed, with everything freshly cooked to order. Each of the team thought that they were the highlight of the stay. The residents lounge with its wood burner, selection of homemade cakes and honesty bar was a welcome treat at the end of each day. We will certainly be staying here again on our next visit to Llandovery and have no hesitation in recommending The New White Lion to others.

Stayed in the New White Lion for a couple of nights as a based to travel the area and explore. Can not rate this accom highly enough - the hosts are the most welcoming couple you can meet. Rooms are very highly appointed and extremely comfortable. Stylish and contemporary to the building, you very definitely get a sense of relaxation from the off. The day will start with a fabulous breakfast with the even the "small" Full English leaving you with no need to eat until much later in the day !. The range of choice for breakfast is more than enough for most - but if you have differing requirements just let Karen know ahead of time and she's sure to deliver.. Take the opportunity to explore with walks and history local to the area or take a short and fun drive into Swansea for some Brunch action or shopping.. Back to the accommodation you will find plenty of choice for evening drinks with the local pubs offering a selection of different atmospheres alongside a wide range of eating options in the same locale.. Not one to be missed...
