The location is very good. There are some Chinese restaurants to choose from within 15 minutes. The Detroit Airport is only about 20 minutes away. Of course, these are all you need to bring your own car. If you don't rent a car, it is really difficult. The hotel feels like a hotel. It is more like a self-service apartment. The room we live in is two bedrooms and one living room with two bathrooms. The 1.5-meter bed in each room is also very comfortable. You can cook for yourself, but the cooking fumes can't go out, you can only cook some light and steam. The service staff are generally very friendly, breakfast is not suitable for the Chinese people's appetite, but can also be full, with yogurt, fruit, cereal, bread, eggs, cheese, beef patties and so on. There is also a small swimming pool and a small gym, basketball court, and if you need to print on your computer, it's free and convenient.

I stayed here the nights of June 15 and June 16 for a conference I was attending on site. I am a returning customer. Check in was a breeze, and my king bed room was clean and spacious for me staying there alone. I was impressed by the black towel marked ”makeup” in the bathroom; what a clever way to keep black mascara stains off white towels. I was not expecting housekeeping service during my stay, but was delighted to find the bed made and bathroom freshened up while i was at the conference. I at 5ive Restaurant on site both nights, simply because I was too lazy to drive anywhere else. Menu tends to be on the expensive side, but I was able to find reasonably priced items to suit my budget. They are understaffed, just like everywhere, but had no issues with ordering and getting my food. In fact, the chef served me one night, so you know they need staff. The bar was extremely busy, and so wasn't able to spend much time talking to bartender John, who remembers me each year I come.

Although we did not stay at the hotel, we attended a cocktail party today for a family wedding. I want to say that this far exceeded our expectations. The manager Megan was the person who ran the event and she was outstanding in every way. She made us feel so welcome and spoke to each of us multiple times to make sure that we were never left with empty glasses. A few of the others had met her during breakfast they said, and she remembered them when they entered the party this afternoon. Now that is impressive! She was everywhere and went above and beyond. But I want to mention specifically that my grandson was very hungry and food was not included. Megan offered and went and turned on the fryers in the kitchen and made my grandson a side order of French fries even though the kitchen was closed! Now that is hospitality!!!! Next time we come in town we will stay at this hotel and we hope that we will get to see Megan again. We may even come in just to see her for breakfast tomorrow morning.

I stayed here for two nights with my teenage son and his friend. Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast attendant! She was very kind and checked on everyone, making accommodations as needed and keeping things very clean and stocked. The front desk staff was also very nice and always helpful, friendly and attentive. We would definitely stay here again.

Just wanted to get away from home for a night and the hotel exceeded my expectations! The lobby has a really nice bar & pantry area. And the room is lovely! This might be my new go to hotel in Michigan.

Stayed a weekend here while attending a volleyball event downtown Detroit. Paid half the price of staying downtown and it was only about a 15-20 minute drive in so it wasn't bad. Check in was easy, room was clean and although there was some cosmetic things that could be fixed, it was at least clean. Wasn't able to use the pool or fitness area, but they both looked clean from the door. Though I heard the pool was out of towels and there was a lot of water in the hallway leading to pool. We had an issue with our fridge, but they rectified that to our satisfaction, beyond what we would expect. The only complaint (use that lightly) is that we had to leave the hotel by 7:05 to get downtown in time and we asked if it was possible to get breakfast before 7:00 and it was a flat ”no”. Worth a try I guess as most other hotels are very accomodating to this and will even offer to go bags ready to go for early departures. Just an idea for future, perhaps.

On July 14 I flew to Detroit to attend a funeral on the 15th. I carefully researched airport hotels. The one I wanted was The Westin but couldn’t justify $340 for 11 hours. So I chose the next best thing, Embassy Suites, still expensive at $200 but I prefer to be clean and comfortable in hotels. Embassy Suites has always fit the bill in the past. When I walked into Room 217 my heart sank. It did not have that clean feel I was used to and had a moldy odor with old worn out furniture. I took photos to prove all of my anxieties. The curtains were old, thin, shabby and torn. The sofa was torn in several places. The table had dried food on it. The beds looked like children had made them up and the pillows were small squares like the size of medium throw pillows. The bed spreads were worn out and thin. There were stains on the pillow cases and make upon one. The towels were shredding. The toilet was so small your knees were up in front of you. I was appalled and disheartened. But, like a big girl, I sucked it up and did my best to make the room to,enable by spraying it with sanitizer and perfume and covering areas with towels. I carry a travel sheet for those…’Just-in-case’ moments which I never thought would happen at an ES hotel. I put my sheet over the sheet and pillow case and tried to be a good soldier. I began to nod and opened my eyes and saw something moving. Startled, I jumped out of the bed and grabbed a tissue to see what this was. I hate bugs of any kind but at this point of desperation, the bar was so low, all I could hope for was that it was a filthy disgusting roach and NOT A BEDBUG‼️ I put the insect in the water glass with a little water and took a picture. When I enlarged the picture I was beyond upset and completely baffled…IT WAS A TEXTBOOK BEDBUG!!! I googled images of bedbugs to see if this really was a bedbug and…it really was a bedbug…smh. I called downstairs and told the desk clerk, Diamond, there was a bedbug in my be along with all the other cosmetic problems, she replied “I can assure you it is not a bedbug cuz we get checked for them every two weeks. I decided to take it down to the manager but that person was gone. I showed Diamond the photos of the condition of my room and she was disconnected. She explained the furniture is not their fault because Covid prevented them from remodeling. Ok, regardless of the reason, the facts were the facts. She didn’t need to prove anything just lend an ear of understanding how I was feeling about paying $200 for 11 hours. It seemed Diamonds customer service skills needed honing. Diamonds words of understanding and compassion were “Would you like to check out?” I kid you not. I was not trying to get a refund, I saved $10 by using Priceline instead of Hiltons site so, no, I’m just letting you know what’s happening…period. Overall, the hotel is clean and well maintained. However When we arrived to check in, our room was not ready until around 3:25 PM which was very disappointing, as we were very tired from driving long hours. During the night, the cleaning guy at the lobby was very noisy, speaking loudly on his phone speaker, while we were trying to relax and have coffee, thus we left the whole lobby for him and went to our rooms.

The hotel I stayed in during a business trip was in line with the usual standards of the Westin Hotel. It was clean and comfortable. It was located right next to the airport, which was very convenient for boarding. It was a good experience, but the price was very high.
