Embassy Suites by Hilton Detroit Livonia Novi

The pool is Wild to say the least. The kids didn’t seem to mind but it is Not somewhere for adults to come swim or sit in the hot tub. The pool is way too cold for kids. The morning breakfast was OK. They need more waffle making machines. Rooms were clean and the staff was friendly.

Booked and paid for stay through Trip.com for my son. Upon check in he needed to supply a card for incidentals and such which is normal. Hotel also charged him for the one night stay. While trying to contact the Manager at the Hotel and leaving messages, I am not receiving a call back to correct this issue.

We were there for the motor city baseball tournament. Heard great things from other team members in the past. But this year was very disappointing. First started with check in- they seamed short staffed for the amount of people that were arriving- between the baseball tournament teams and the family reunion members it seemed unorganized and I felt bad for the staff as they were trying their best to accommodate. The rooms weren’t ready and we had to wait 1hr for ours. We finally got our room and it was a good set up but the decor was well used and the room wasn’t as cleaned as you would hope. We didn’t even have a shower curtain for showers and I had to go to the front desk 2x to get one. They only had 2 elevators working if you can call them working - they were very slow and we had long waits to use them- we were on the fifth floor so I wasn’t taking the stairs. By the time Sunday came they only had 1 working elevator for everybody to use and most were checking out after breakfast. The common area -I was very surprised about the size of this area and at first I thought it was great as families can gather and kids can hang out- but as soon as 10pm came we were all sent to our rooms- I found this disturbing as our group was very well behaved and quiet- they didn’t offer any other place to gather and we were large group. We did enjoy the happy hour drinks and snacks- that was a nice surprise. So 5 star for that- As for the breakfast on the first day it was good probably because we were up early due to the tournament, but the following days we were there between 8 and 9 and by that time most things were cleared out and they didn’t bring out any refills- the yogurt and fruits seemed to be on a first come basis and the milk was always empty- we did even ask for some but we never got it- they also ran out of plates and silverware so eating your eggs and sausage out of the styrofoam bowl was a little disappointing. We felt that they were not prepared for the amount of people that attended the hotel this past week. The outside garbage was overflowing- and guests were leaving their garbage outside their doors. So it really made the place look dumpy. There was an incident in the pool area and the pool was shut down for a whole day. But when it reopened there was water everywhere as people were leaving the pool area to go to their rooms and such- it made that walkway to the elevator very un safe. They need to make some rules about wearing shoes and drying off before leaving then pool area. I am surprised I didn’t hear that someone got hurt as it was very dangerous. This experience didn’t leave us with a good feeling unfortunately. The hotel itself needs a refresh and some of their rules need to be reworked .

The rooms were comfortable but dated. But all in all they were good. The downside was that two of the three elevators were broke down and there were kids running around at all hours of the day. No parental supervision whatsoever. They treated this place like an amusement park where they drop the kids off and let them run wild with no respect for the other guests. Management didn’t seem to care either.

WORST HOTEL EVER! We had a terrible experience at this property months ago. We waited 30 minutes past the time the Evening Reception was supposed to begin, but No Employee every set it up. The room was musty, the air conditioner did not work, and the toilet ran continuously. I tried to speak with management before leaving, and was told no one was available. Left my name and number but no one called me back. I called Hilton Customer Service and they told me that they were contacting the hotel management to have them contact me. No one ever called. Today, we were in the area after STAYING AT ANOTHER HOTEL, and I stopped in to speak with the Manager. I had to wait because another guest was speaking to him because she had problems with her room. When I finally spoke to the manager, he denied ever having received my request to speak with him and said "He wasn't going to deal with this on a Saturday." DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! AVOID THIS HOTEL!!!
