Parking next door at the NCP, Premier Inn will scan your parking ticket and it’s £9 per day. On arrival there was a huge queue at reception and the systems had gone down so we were all made to take a seat where we could find. I waited about 30minutes before I was able to check in, the staff were doing the best they could. Strangely I was asked by the receptionist if I was staying alone and I really wasn’t comfortable being asked that and declaring that publicly when surrounded by lots of strangers. I’m a young female travelling solo and it doesn’t need advertising! I entered my room to a horrible smell of urine and no matter what I sprayed I couldn’t get rid of it, and the window was open. The carpet hadn’t been cleaned properly as there was lots of debris and hairs. It is also starting to frustrate me that Premier Inns don’t provide proper toilet roll; yet a cheap travelodge does. The money you can pay to stay in a Premier Inn and you don’t even get decent toilet paper! Not sure what was wrong with the shower but it was like it was screaming whenever I used it, really horrible noise but I did report that to reception. I unfortunately had someone with heavy feet above my room and very active, not only that there are buildings works right outside my window that went off at 8am each morning, heavy works. The breakfast the first day was fine, no problems. However the second day the eggs were like rubber and really inedible. The bacon was very fatty and also swimming in grease in the bowl. They had ran out of yoghurts and juice. I wasn’t impressed for how much it costs. There’s no staff to alert any issues too as the poor receptionist seemed to be dealing with check outs and people entering for breakfast. This is in a great central location though.
