Barbara Studios & Apartments

We stayed here for 11 nights in September. Short transfer from the airport.Easy check in but I can understand some finding the list of do’s & don’ts a bit much upon checking in. I think the rules are pretty much standard so maybe could be just prompted to read. We had room 12. It was up 2 flights of stairs.Standard Greek appartment with everything you need. We were s/c & could make snacks etc.Absolutely spotlessly clean. We had probably one of the best views from the balcony. Bedding & towels changed regularly during our stay. We are not pool people but passing the pool daily it was very clean & plenty of sunbeds available. We visited the bar most days for drinks or food & the owners & their daughter were very friendly. Beaches are a little walk away. 3 we visited are lovely & had plenty sunbeds available. Small shop next door, bigger one ten minutes walk. Staff in the shops are very friendly & sell everything you could want, There are some lovely restaurants nearby & more a short walk away. We would definitely recommend booking the Dias Beekeeping tour. Absolutely fantastic,interesting experience. We also walked to the Sarris winery & had a lovely wine tasting experience. We walked or used the bus. Bus into Argostoli was every 2 hours due to moving to low season. Definitely worth visiting. With a car you could do so much more. We would definitely return but probably a week earlier as some restaurants started reducing their hours towards the end of our holiday. We would say these apartments are definitely more suitable for couples/adults. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

Good size studios, private balcony with a view of the sea in the distance. Mosquito net covers the doors and windows. Good self catering facilties and a supermarket next door. The supermarket closed on day 2 of my holiday (it was October) but there was another one 10 minutes walk away. Very friendly, hard working family run. It was very quiet this time of year and only a small choice of restaurants nearby. Only 10 minute transfer from the airport. If you want a quiet, relaxing holiday then pick the Barbara Studios.

Set in pretty well-kept gardens. The studios are certainly basic but they were clean and we had a decent balcony & appreciated the mosquito screens. We thought that check-in was a bit overwhelming, as you get a list of rules read out to you, backed up with a framed version to read but maybe this was why it was so peaceful and calm around the pool which also has a large board of rules. There was no problem with getting a sun bed however several of the loungers were broken but hopefully this will be sorted by next season. We had paid for B&B, but I cannot recommend breakfasts here unfortunately. We were told to be seated and then a plate of food was just put in front of us. There was no choice whatsoever unless you wanted to pay for a full English. We were given eggs, two small slices of cheap bread, cheap highly processed meat & cheese. Coffee was served with condensed milk. Fresh fruit was only served every other day alternating with a cake. There is however a very convenient and well-stocked supermarket next door but one and a good grill restaurant and laid-back cocktail bar next door which opens from around 6pm. Turn left out of the studios and there are a couple more restaurants within 10 minutes walk (the very pretty bakery Bake Someone Happy which is so much more than a bakery, beautiful breakfasts, coffee, brunches, lunches, drinks & dinners) is also on this road. Turn right out of the studios and there is La Calma where there is always a very warm welcome, amazing cocktails and good food. Straight across the road from Barbara and down a lane towards the beach is the lovely, friendly Fois restaurant. There are others places to eat too but probably more like a 35-40 minute walk away. There is also a very convenient bus stop into Argostoli outside the studios.

Lovley welcome. Clean, fresh smelling studio. Garden view which was both quiet and lovley. My husband and I wanted a quiet, break away i chose wisely and got what we asked for. Nearby tavernas and a supermarket next door. The supermarket closed for the season on october 1st as did a couple of tavernas but there is another supermarket a ten minute walk away. We ate out every night, lovley food and reasonable prices. We explored the island and fell in love with the people and the places we visited. Overall Barbaras is perfect for a quiet, peacefull break. The food we ate there was lovley too. Only one bad thing the beds are very hard..personal preference but i did find it hard to sleep. Wouldnt stop me staying there again. Oh, busstop outside too.

Barbara studio is very typical Greek studio/apartment (used to be known as Pensions) very basic but we like this about Greece. Our room was ok, beds ok small balcony overlooking the garden. Exactly opposite Barbara's is the road leading down to the small Al Helis beach, you walk past another very good restaurant on the way. Next door is a supermarket and next door to that is a very good restaurant Porto Helis. Turn left out of the studios 10 mins walk are another 2 restaurants and Grekstones car rental very reasonably priced cars. Also a must visit is Sea Salt restaurant really good food. Turn right out of studios is another restaurant. The pool is nice, clean and plenty of sunbeds, but they are very worn. I would recommend the studios but would recommend hiring a car to see the rest of the island. We ate twice at Barbars small bar area, but food wasn't very good, however plenty of other places to eat. We did not have any problems with Barbara or her family we found them welcoming and we didn't have any problems with our room or fridge. I would stay here again.

I echo the sentiments of the last reviews. This place is a little gem! Barbara and Erato were so welcoming. Very hard working and couldn’t do enough for us. The pool was very clean and could always find a sunbed. A fine 3 star base in a quiet village. Perfect! For the life of me I can’t understand why there are some bad reviews on here. Maybe they were families? It clearly states that this accommodation is for “couples and friends”. IMO not suitable for families. I will definately be coming back..thank you Barbara and Erato.

I am somewhat amazed by some reviews on here.Barbara studios is an amazing little gem.The studios are spacious and well equipped.The pool and pool area is spacious and immaculately clean. The owners are extremely hard working and always helpful.Food and drink always good. This us not a 5* hotel but a great 3* traditional Greek hotel that I would highly recommend

We have been going to Barbara Studios for 7/8 years and seen Barbara(B), Erato(E) and Papa(P) as friends and always bring gifts from Scotland for them each visit. We arrived around lunch time on Wed 21st Aug for 2 weeks. They asked us if we liked Katelios as they knew we had been there in May. they seemed a bit off when we said we loved it there..We were allocated a room on the new block. Room 113. My brother and sister in-law were arriving later that evening and they allocated room 112 next door to us. Got key and went to room to drop off cases then went to shop for a few essentials, came back and put stuff in fridge and turned it up a bit. a few hours later we noticed stuff in fridge wasn't cool so we turned it up high. The freezer part was working OK.Next morning we checked fridge and still it was not cool. We spoke to P who was sitting on seat outside our block and he came and had a look and said that we needed to press the door hard to get it to shut properly but we new it wasn't this as there was no suction on door. he also said we had to much stuff in door so we took a bottle of water a carton of milk and two small cans of Mythos and put them on worktop, We said we would check it in a couple of hour to see if that made any difference. A few hours later still the same so we went to the pool bar to see E & B to let them know no difference only to be snapped at by E saying it is only a small fridge and that we had too much in fridge.(Load of rubbish) then B who was on phone to P starting shout at the top of her voice "YOU GO " " YOU GO" the "YOU GO SEE PAPA pointing her finger at my husband and a could see my husband was fuming but didn't say anything as he didn't want to cause a scene. So i went to see P and the cleaner Maria was there too and he said to much in fridge so took everything out of fridge except a small bottle of Fanta and a tub of Lurpak spreadable, the rest of our stuff we gave to my brother who put it in his fridge. Checked again late Thursday night after we returned from our evening out and it was still not working and the Lurpak was now pour-able and not spreadable. Friday morning around 9am back to pool bar again!!! to speak to B or E and was snapped at by B saying Technician coming today even before we could say something so she knew what we were going to say, so we we asked if morning or afternoon but replied again technician coming. we said Ok. Around 2pm we seen E up at one of the room in the new block so asked if she knew when technician was coming. again she snapped back at us saying you already spoke to my mother. we said Ok we wait to 4 pm and see if any one come. At 4Pm we decide we had waited long enough for this to be resolved as this was day 3 of our holiday and in temperatures of 33-35 degree heat we needed a fridge so we went back to pool bar to speak to them and E snapped you want to change room and i said yes please then B snapped "You wait for technician". I said NO as we felt we had given them a

An absolute gem of a place beautiful scenery and surroundings local bars and restaurants top service in all of them the people who work at Barbara studios are lovely and respectful I have read some of the other reviews and myself personally cannot fault anything about this beautiful place rooms clean facilities very clean and comfortable I would only say it’s not for young children but adults single or more would have the most relaxing holiday at Barbara studios
