Stayed here whilst visiting friends in the vicinity. What an incredible addition to the Litchfield area. A beautifully designed hotel that honors it's history with charm and character. The bedrooms are delightful, very comfortable beds and thoughful touches everywhere. The Verdict Bar and Courtroom Restaurant are also beautifully designed and bring a touch of class to the town. The staff are just lovely, young and keen to ensure you have a great stay, they could not have been more delightful. Congratulations to the team behind this business, it will now my go-to whenever I'm in town.

The hotel is one of the best boutique hotels we have stayed in and there is a bar and a restaurant if you don’t feel like going out after a long ski day :) . The hotel is new and rooms are spacious .staff was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely return to stay there

On September 18, a friend and I went to check out the new boutique hotel in Litchfield, which is a converted county courthouse building constructed in 1890. We had made a dinner reservation at their restaurant (The Courtroom) and had a drink before dinner at the rooftop bar (The Verdict.) Our evening there was a wonderful experience, more amazing given that the hotel had been open for less than a week, and it was only the fifth evening for the restaurant. Without exception, all the staff was so nice and helpful—the woman at the front desk, the bartender at the rooftop bar, the restaurant maître d, and our server at dinner. The rooftop bar was a lovely way to spend a hour in such a well-designed and comfortable space. The restaurant is in the old courtroom and is a nice mix of vintage and contemporary. Both the service and our dinners were superb. We shared the homemade chips and dip, followed by a Caesar salad, and the steak frites and baked stuffed cod. All were excellent. Timing of the courses was perfect, not rushed or seemingly slow. Overall, a wonderful evening in a unique and welcoming place.

My husband and I went to The Abner for a quick overnight birthday getaway. We had recently heard about the new hotel and were intrigued by its setting (an old courthouse). We arrived for check in and were greeted promptly and shown around the hotel, before being taken to our room. We had a large room with a king bed, couch and a small table with chairs. The decor is unique and the incredibly large windows provided so much light. In case it’s important for any future travelers, the rooms don’t have TVs. My only complaint about the room would be that there is not adequate storage for clothing. We only stayed one night so we packed lightly. There is an area for hanging items, but there is not a dresser or drawers of any sort. We visited Verdict (the rooftop bar) for drinks before dinner. It’s a great space with a variety of seating options, interesting cocktails and nice views. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant which is in the old courtroom. It was quite busy for a Sunday night. We started with house made potato chips and French onion dip and also shared the grilled peaches. For entrees we tried the halibut with ginger lobster sauce and steak frites. Portions were really generous and the food was very good. The service was overall good, but spotty at times. The starters came quickly but we waited quite a bit for the entrees. The lamp on the table was leaking oil all over so that had to be taken care of (required removing everything from the table and wiping all the oil off). While doing so one of the servers removed my husband’s silverware and forgot to replace it. When our food arrived it took some doing to flag someone down to get the silverware replaced. He ordered a glass of wine to accompany his dinner and it seemed to have been forgotten (it did finally arrive after asking the server again). None of these were major problems and since the hotel has only been open for 8 days, the service should continue to improve. All the staff members we encountered were very friendly and welcoming. It’s a very unique space and seems like a great addition to the area. I recommend a visit!

A truly gem of a hotel. Hip, well appointed and a GREAT support team. Everyone from the front desk ( Jess, Robert, Austin) the roof top bar tender (Alison) the food servers ( Rubin, Renee) and the host Scott and Simon were spectacular. They could not have been nicer and more helpful as to local places of interest!!

The staff was friendly. The property and room were beautiful and clean. Thought was definitely put into the design and finishings. The water was hot and the room temperature easy to control. It was 6 degrees outside when we stayed and our room was nice snd toasty. Wonderful visit overall.

The Abner Hotel is excellent in all aspects. The management, the quality of the hotel itself, the quality of the offerings are all what one would expect from a high class boutique hotel. The only question to ask is: "Would I ever return?" The Litchfield area is another example of very small "town" USA. Travelers who seek quality stays such as the Abner often have the means to travel the world. Unless you need to be in Litchfield for personal or "limited" business reasons, why would one return? There is nothing the Abner needs to do to improve, other than helping Litchfield improve: • Everything shuts down around 5 • There is hardly anyone on the streets after 6. Proof? We encountered "15" oncoming vehicles in a 20 mile stretch at 10:30 pm. • There is nothing to do in the evening other than very non-exciting, very conventional dining options. And who travels to Litchfield for extraordinary dining? Hello? France? Italy? • Yes, local greet "Hello" and Merry Xmas" to strangers on the street. It takes more than a hollow greeting to make a place inviting. Litchfield needs to ask itself the question: "Do we really want outsiders visit our town?" My guess is, their answer, currently, is "We like the way we live, we don't want you." - All right, thanks. My apologies to an excellent establishment such as The Abner Hotel and its hard-working management and staff.
