Hotels in Estrela, Lisbon

From the moment you see the sign on the glimmering white tiled building and walk through the revolving door into the vintage lobby, you feel you’ve stepped back in time. You are on vacation from the hustle and bustle of our modern lives. The lobby is centered around a beautiful bar with superb cocktails and cold Super Bock on tap. The staff is sharply dressed and attentive and constantly making sure the breakfast buffet is well presented and fully stocked. The self serve mimosa bar and Lavazza Super automatic Espresso machines are a nice touch. The made to order omelettes and pastries are delicious. The rooms are comfortable with all the modern amenities including an awesome rain shower. If I’m being picky my only complaint was the AC in the room had trouble keeping up with the AC in the hallways and the automatic touch button LED lights didn’t have dimmers. The bathroom lights were blinding in the middle of the night. The gym was well equipped and located in the basement next to the well designed vintage business center. The vintage rotary phones were also a nice touch. Thank you for a wonderful couple of days in a beautiful neighborhood walking distance from most of the top Burroughs.

Very good hotel. The service staff are enthusiastic, and the view of the river view room is nothing to say. Although the hotel is old, it is not out of date in maintenance. Most of the guests staying there are older European and American guests. It is suitable for relaxing and enjoying the scenery in the hotel, and feeling at peace with the world. It's not as crowded as the old town, and it's more convenient to take a taxi to the main attractions. It doesn't have the atmosphere of being an internet celebrity, so it may not be suitable for those who like to be lively and take pictures. Children especially like it.

We've just left Jam after a three night stay and it was wonderful. Our room was super clean, staff were friendly and helpful and the location was good. It took us about 25 to 30 minutes to walk into the centre of Lisbon but there were many places you could stop along the way for a cold drink. We didn't use the rooftop bar or pool but we checked it out and it had a super chilled vibe which was nice. We would definitely stay here again. P.s the shower was fab!

We stayed in the penthouse apartment for three nights in February. Start with the positives. It has a great location, a very well-appointed interior, plus super responsive, kind and helpful staff. The apartment was cleaned every day and had faultless quality. However, both bedrooms and one bathroom have compromised ceiling heights, which are NOT shown in the property images online (see my images for reference). This isn't very ethical and needs to be shown for future guests. It is a top-floor apartment that is built into the roof space in a loft style. The master bedroom has low ceilings that you need to duck under to get to the bathroom. I am 1.80m tall and had to do this each time. The second bedroom has a bed located under the slanting roof, so a person needs to lie on the bed to get in each night. The bathroom has a low-height entry, but once inside, it is fine. Also to note, there are two big building sites in operation at the front of the property, with any lower floors getting more noise from the works. In the summer, this will be a problem when the windows are open. The other apartments in the complex do not have height issues and would be fantastic to stay in. It really is a cool neighbourhood, with loads of cafes, bars and restaurants close by. This review is for any travellers looking to book the penthouse apartment only.

Wij hebben hier overnacht tijdens ons jaarlijks team uitje. Wij hadden diverse appartementen in het complex en ze zagen er stuk voor stuk goed uit. Wij hadden wat problemen met het inchecken en werden direct geholpen door de interieur verzorgster. Samen met iemand van het complex was het zo geregeld. Ons appartement was van alle gemakken voorzien. Wasmachine, vaatwasser, magnetron, broodrooster etc. De appartementen liggen niet minden in het centrum en in het mooiste gedeelte van Lissabon maar met de taxi, uber of het OV ben je zo overal. Wij hebben hier een goed verblijf gehad.

York House is a really lovely and unique property. Very spacious room, extremely comfortable bed and high quality linen. The breakfast offer is very good, plenty of choice, lovely fresh fruit and lots of homemade bakes. The courtyard is a beautiful area, available for breakfast in the sun or a comfortable rest in the shade later in the day. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Only downside is the stair way climb up from the street, pretty difficult with luggage. We found it a bit of a trial, could possibly be difficult for the less mobile. Also there wasn't a bar, although drinks could be ordered from reception and provided to the courtyard. York House is very convenient to several bus stops and a short walk to the metro and train station. There are many bars and restaurants in the area, you are spoilt for choice. We loved our stay and would return in a heartbeat.

This is a lovely hotel and the staff are helpful and knowledgeable. The lady who does the reception at night and the young man who booked us in were both particularly lovely people. ( just so the mangers know he looks slightly oriental ) Very clean rooms and public spaces. Breakfast varied and changed every day. Hot and cold dishes and lots of fresh fruit. Only thing which may improve this is for the food to be labelled these days it’s a most , especially with the increase in food allergies. Pool is small but pleasant. We enjoyed the location away from the busy centre and easy access by a bus at the end of the street. We soon got the hang of the transport system . Be warned it’s very hilly here and the whole of Lisbon is not good for people with mobility issues. The only negative about this hotel is that it is on the flight path and quite close to landing. Planes pass over every few minutes and all night! You can’t hear them if you close all of the windows, I you try to sleep with the windows open it’s unbearable.

I was really delighted by this hotel. The rooms are comfortable with a lot of charm. The staff is really friendly and professional. Good breakfast buffet you can have on the terrace if the weather is nice. The library on 3rd floor with the terrace is a great addition. There also complimentary coffee and snacks available all day. Would definitively stay again at this location if I go back to Lisbon.
