Torel Palace Lisbon

This is a very special hotel in a beautiful location with beautiful rooms, most with great views, and excellent service. Loved everything about it and recommend it in the strongest terms for leisure travelers.

We recently visited Lisbon for the 2nd time as we loved it so much the 1st time. I did a lot of research into accommodation and settled on Torel Palace based on location and reviews. The Hotel is definitely high on the price scale at almost AUS $1000 a night, we stayed 6 nights. Although the property is amazing with stunning views and beautiful rooms, there were things that didn’t match the level of service or detail that I would have expected. Some may find my comments petty, but working in the design and furniture industries there are details that I notice: 1. The day we checked in, I noticed that the flowers in the foyer of our building were dead. As I said, we stayed for 6 days and on the last day they were still the same. We then went to Porto for 3 nights and stayed at another Torel property. After Porto, we stayed at Torel Palace again for 1 night before our flight home. Same room, same foyer and 9 days later still same dead flowers. 2. Again, it’s about the details - all 4 window dressings had the curtain rings hanging off the ends. Again, might seem petty but at this level, attention to detail is important. 3. 3 lights in the room weren’t working, it was just a matter of tightening the bulbs. 4. I sat by the pool every day for min 2-3 hrs during which time not 1 of the pool bar staff offered a menu or drinks. Several times drinks would be served to guests who must have ordered on their way to the pool, but even then staff would just walk past without offering anything. Upon checking out I was advised it was because it was the off season and there weren’t as many staff - not really good enough when they are walking past you and not even offering. 5. Staff at breakfast were amazing and the food and service was great, so disappointing that the same level of service was not on display elsewhere. Although we really enjoyed staying at Torel Palace, I would really have to think twice about staying again given the price and the awards and accolades the Hotel has received for Service which just weren’t there.

Beautiful hotel, the room was stunning, the food was wonderful and the staff was so kind and helpful! Made us a fantastic dinner reservation for a traditional Portuguese meal our first night. Walking back up to the hotel was a bit tiring but worth it for the stunning views the hotel had to offer. Also very easy to just get a cab ride from the downtown area if you’re too tired to walk. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve experienced, I wish I had stayed longer!

If you prefer a bit of old-fashion charm combined with high level of service, Torel Palace is the place. Perfect location - with great view over the city and still in quiet area.

We enjoyed our stay at the Torel Palace, Lisbon! The staff, reception, wait staff and all were very friendly and helped make our feel at home. Special shout out to Miguel and Nick, plus the spa staff for taking such good care of us!!
