Skap Hostel Mandal

I thought the hostel would be in better condition. It is outdated and needs refurbishing. Only bathroom provision was a pump handwash on basin. Definitely not recommending for the price paid.

Ok hotel, glimrende service

A quirky and charming hostel right in the center of Mandal. This hostel is a creative school (folkehøgskole) most of the year, but for the first time, they’ve turned the school into a hostel this summer (though the building used to be a hotel before it became a school). Some of the creative works of the students are still there in the lobby of the hostel, giving it a lot of charm. The hostel is situated right at the center of Mandal, within walking distance of everything. Mandal is a cute little town with a wonderful beach and the streets with white wooden houses that are common for this part of Norway. The room was nice and we had our own private bathroom. The people working in the hostel were very welcoming. The hostel had an elevator to four of the five floors. You need to take the stairs to the top floor. There’s plenty of parking right outside the hostel or further down the street. I really recommend this hostel.

This is a great place to stay when visiting charming Mandal. Very central yet all quiet. It is a former hotel turned into a creative folk school and has a great atmosphere. Our room was spacious, perfectly clean and the beds were comfortable. The outdoor spaces are nice and welcoming. I highly recommend staying here. Great value.
