Roe Valley Resort

Very disappointed that a service charge of 10% was added to our bill, I realise as a party of 6 it is applied.But my point is one of our 6 was a 2 year old in a high chair, for a hotel that is supposed to be advertising themselves as a family resort I personally think this was a bit unnecessary and definitely will not attract families as it’s already an expensive experience to eat out with children at this resort.Secondly this was added even though one of our meals was inedible due to the meat being too chewy for one of our party to eat. ..the price of the main was removed from bill..but it was regained by service charge. So families be aware of this charge, as it will add another £20 to your bill.

We came here as a family of 4 for a wedding and stayed in a family room. We were very much looking forward to staying in a 4* hotel, but to be honest the experience was anything but 4*. The room, whilst clean, was tired and dated. We only had 2 bottles of water, despite there being 4 of us. We enjoyed the wedding, however felt the food could have been served hotter, it was just warm. Prices: £7.20 for a pint, £3.90 for a Pepsi Max, £36 for a bottle of wine.. wow! Shocking. Daylight robbey. Breakfast: We waited 10 mins at the door for someone to approach us to be seated. When she came down, there wasn't even an apology. We then waited another 20 minutes for our tea and juice to be brought down. Apparently a printer was broke. Why does this 4* hotel not have self-serve juices? Surely that's a breakfast standard? Should also mention getting our tea with no cups, sugar or milk. Crazy. Breakfast selection was poor and I didn't appreciate waiting on my toast and listening to the chefs foul language infront of my daughter and I... apparently he's being sent to another hotel restaurant to show them how its done, my advice would be to focus on your own restaurant first lol. 'Spa' - its not a spa. I know they are doing renovations here but honestly calling it a spa is false advertising. The swimming pool was small and not worth writing home about. Couldn't get lockers to lock and shower door locks hanging off. Lunch: We had money left on a gift card so went to Coach House for lunch before we left. Honestly awful. Kids had off their kids menu and my daughter asked for a fruit salad which we were told had a selection of 4 fruits. When they brought it down, it was a big bowl of melon and watermelon 🙈 They did get her something else to replace it. I had chicken goujons and garlic potatoes and to be honest it wasn't worth it. It cost £18, and I couldn't taste any garlic in the potatoes and the garlic mayo had a sourness to it. Didn't see a manager the whole time we were there. Who's running these places? Thoroughly disappointed at our experience. The price to stay in a hotel like this is not cheap and I don't mind doing it every so often as its a treat, but unfortunately I wouldn't be recommending this hotel to anyone. Simply not worth the money.

This is an update of our review from February 2025, in which we gave the hotel 4 stars, but having not received a response to our genuine grievance on check out, we would know like to record a 1 star for customer care and service. Looking to see our bank statement on check out, was out of order.....We felt as if we were being accused of lying, we had told those on reception at the time, that the money had been debited from our account but they wanted to see !!!!! WE DEFINITELY WONT GO BACK.....

So disappointing for the price paid agree with other reviews 5 start prices at a 3 star room! we were expecting a lovely room for the price we paid for 2 nights, were so disappointed to find a pretty outdated room, the food was not great so didn't eat there the second night, kids enjoyed the activities which were extra again and not included! Pretty shocking prices for what we got.
