Abdi Homestay is a simple comfortable complex of cabins and covered patio with ponds and adjacent to a beautiful rockface and rice fields. The family, led by Noni are wonderful and Noni gives a very good cooking class. While Abdi’s is very good value for the independent traveller, it is classified as a 3* accommodation, which it is not. There was no sink, no hot water, no screens, fans or mosquito nets. The fan provided to us upon request really did not work. As a result, the actual accommodations did not meet our expectations.

We had a wonderful family stay at Abdi Homestay. The staff is truly lovely. The setting is magnificent. Right in front of a sublime waterfall. The rooms are charming. It's truly an excellent place to stay for visiting the Harau Valley.

A wonderful welcome from Ikbal and Noni at Abdi Cottage. They gave us lots of great advice, and above all, we spent a whole day with Ikbal on a scouter touring this magnificent valley. We stopped at a school, a rice paddy, a coffee farm, and ended with a duck race typical of the area. It was incredible, with excellent food and kindness. In short, we highly recommend it.

This guesthouse is an excellent choice in a region with a wide range of options. It is located well away from the road, making it very quiet. The bungalows are well spaced from each other and oriented to preserve everyone's privacy. They are spacious, clean, and comfortable. They have a terrace where it is pleasant to relax (hammock, bench, or chairs). You can eat on site, and it is very pleasant not to have to go out in the evening. All the staff are very friendly. We took two excursions (on foot and by scooter) with one of the guides, Rinal. He introduced us to many of the local products (coffee, rice, henna, chips, etc.). It was very rich.

The room is cozy and clean. Good WiFi and beautiful view. The owners of the place very hospitable and really taking care of the guests. Love this place and the whole area of Harau Valley - you can find a lot of nature and nice people.

We stayed in June. Lovely setting, peaceful. Really nice people, trying to support a great stay in many ways. We loved them and it. The private tour through the valley was very worthwhile. The guide ('Van Brockhoff') fun and careful. The cottage was simple but good and clean. The bed excellent, the shower interesting. A very goor experience, therefore. During the weekend, you can expect Karaoke sounds from the nearby hotel till quite late.

The setting of the establishment is nice and pleasant but the sheets, beds and towels smell very bad either because they are dirty or because they are badly dried and damp, or both we do not know. We slept both nights in our duvets and used our travel towels, which still spoils the stay a little...

Great stay at Abdi's, we recommend this guesthouse 100%. We arrived at 1am after a 4.5 hour drive from Lake Toba, a young man was waiting for us at this late hour of the night, thanks again to him. . Otherwise, the stay went really well, we were treated like kings during the 4 days, the meals were delicious, bravo to the cook, the laundry was great Rinar showed us the surroundings by scooter and car, two magnificent days that we will remember for a long time! Thank you also for picking fruit after the trip. We hope that you will soon be able to realize your dream of going to see your friends in France... What more can we say, the few small flaws are largely compensated by the kindness of the owners, their welcome and their know-how, a well-deserved reputation and unbeatable value for money! You will not find a better place to stay in Harau than Abdi homestay. From the moment you arrive the staff and family make you welcome and you feel right at home. Our cute bungalow was lovely and clean. The food was delicious. For breakfast there was a choice of traditional, omelettes or pancakes all cooked fresh. Dinner was traditional and very delicious again all freshly prepared for you. Everyone is so helpful and can give you routes to walk by yourself to the waterfall nearby or you can have a guided trek which can be customised to what you want to see. This place is very special I felt very sad to leave. The setting is peaceful with rice fields in front and rock and waterfall behind. Truly magical!
