Hotel Carlton Lille

We were assigned an accessible junior suite though we didn't request an accessible room.. The bathroom was half finished and the wiring was not completed with the switches for the separate toilet and bath located in the doorway. There were signs pasted on the door to the toilet and the door to the shower stating that the hotel offered its apologies for the inconvenience! There was a workman's support pole found under the sinks which had to be removed by the technician when we complained. There was not a single hook, clothes stand, towel rack or rail anywhere in the bathroom, toilet or room. The hotel staff explained that they would send a technician a second time to drill hooks in the bathroom, we didn't bother since we were staying only 2 nights and didn't want the dust. The shower glass in the shower stall could not contain water within the stall and the floor became wet after we showered. Location wise the hotel is perfect and the staff were polite. Breakfast was a mix of hot cooked food and the usual cold cuts, cheeses, breads, yoghurt, fruits and juices. The breakfast room changes to a bar at night which serves affordable and nice cocktails.

Only stayed one night, but all very good. If there was a very good option, I would have chosen that, so more than good, but not excellent! Definitely use the Carlton again if I'm staying in Lille.

The hotel is in a very good location, close to everything you might need. On arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to find a note in the room wishing me a happy birthday along with two drinks to enjoy at the bar, as I had let them know in advance about the reason for our visit. The hotel itself is charming with nice décor, although some of the finishes felt a little shabby. We booked a privilege room, which had a lovely view, but the entrance to the room was at an awkward angle and quite narrow. The toilet was separate from the bathroom, which meant having to go elsewhere to wash hands — a bit frustrating. The toilet space was extremely narrow and felt similar to an airplane toilet. Unfortunately, the main shower head didn’t work, so I had to use the handheld shower attached to a long pole, which was awkward and made it difficult to wash my hair. On a positive note, the room was very clean and the coffee machine was a nice touch. Breakfast was acceptable but lacked enough hot food options.
