We didn't stay at the hotel but visited for dinner. After taking a look at the menu I selected the Plat and chose salmon for 22€. The dinner was nice. At the end of the meal (about) hour and a half later I decided to order a creme brulee. When I went to pay my check I was billed 43€. I paid but then wondered if I had just paid 21€ additional for the creme brulee. I was shown the menu (pictured below) and told "Because it says so right here on the menu." No other explanation was offered. A passerby helped me to negotiate the cost of the creme brulee down to 10€. I'm not generally a complainer but I felt like I was being taken advantage of. The restaurant left a bad taste in my mouth...

Zwischenstation auf meiner Radreise. Dafür war es in Ordnung. Mein Rad konnte sicher untergestellt werden. Mangels Alternative in der näheren Umgebung im dazugehörigen Restaurant gegessen. Das war sehr gut. Zimmer in Ordnung, Dusche wirkt etwas, wie in die Jahre gekommen. Frühstück enttäuschend, trockenes Croissant.

En mai 2023, nous avons célébré notre mariage au Château de la Motte à Liessies, et cela restera à jamais le jour le-plus-beau-de-notre-vie ! Nous avons eu la chance de profiter de la terrasse, embellie pour l'occasion avec de belles plantes vertes, lors de notre vin d'honneur. Notre cérémonie laïque, tenue sous un chapiteau fourni par le propriétaire, s'est déroulée dans le charmant petit jardin fleuri qui entoure le domaine. Une balançoire que nous avions décorée de fleurs a été le lieu de magnifiques photos, remplies de romantisme et de précieux souvenirs. Nous sommes reconnaissants envers M. Plateau pour ses recommandations de prestataires, notamment la fleuriste et les DJ, qui se sont montrés très professionnels. Le service à table assuré par les serveurs était impeccable, et la combinaison de leur professionnalisme et de leur gentillesse a été soulignée à plusieurs reprises par nos invités. Le repas était généreux et bon, et nous tenons à mentionner tout particulièrement la pièce montée de choux à la crème, un véritable délice. Nous avons eu le privilège d'obtenir l'autorisation de M. Plateau pour organiser un feu d'artifice, ce qui a apporté une touche d'émerveillement à notre soirée.

We arrived to find a couple smoking in the reception area while enjoying afternoon drinks. They appeared to be local and at least known to if not friends of the chef patron. Our room was adequate. Clean with a comfortable bed which had good quality linen. The big let down was the bathroom which was shoddy and to cap it all the re was no hot water either in the basin or the shower on the morning of our departure. When we mentioned this to the chef patron at check out, there was no apology just that he was aware of it and had now “pushed the button”. On the plus side, we had an excellent dinner in the attractive restaurant with a well priced bottle of wine served by friendly, professional staff. However, the breakfast buffet was quite basic and served in a scruffy room with wallpaper hanging off the wall. We would not return to this hotel.

Schönes Hotel mit etwas in die Jahre gekommener Zimmereinrichtung. Es ist ländlich gelegen und daher sehr ruhig. Sehr freundliches Personal. Die Betten waren sehr gut. Die Einrichtungegegenstände sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen aber alle ohne Einschränkungen zu gebrauchen. Gutes Frühstück. Das Essen im Restaurant war vorzüglich, wir hatten das Tagesmenü. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis für das Essen ist hervorragend.

Chambre spacieuse. Nous avons apprécié l'effort de rénovation de la chambre et les attentions : gel douche, shampoing , eau, mini bar, verres à Champagne. Tout le charme d'un château avec ses extérieurs pour prendre l'apéritif ! Un bon point aussi pour l'excellent petit-déjeuner très bien achalandé. Beaucoup de choix, des fruits frais, différents jus, bonnes viennoiseries, etc
