Well! What can I say or how do I leave a accurate review about a hotel we recently stayed in, the Hotel itself is called the Premiere Classe Hotel on Rue Chanzy in the very picturesque City of Lille in Northern France, which was one of the Venues for the Rugby World Cup. The hotel is easy enough to find and has ample parking, excellent facilities close by( bars and food). And is only a stones throw from Stade Pierre Mauroy. Which is one of the reasons we selected it. It certainly wasn’t the cost on a match weekend.(they could and did charge premium prices for a budget hostel.)although it price was very competitive. Right down to the nitty gritty, £397 for two of us, on a two night stay, some may say you get what you pay for, we certainly didn’t, rather pricy for what can only be described as a backpackers hostel. (Not as competitive as first thought) The room itself, stank of an ashtray, I’m sure the laws/rules are different in France about smoking in your room, but it didn’t appear as if any effort had been made to air the room, it’s a good job it was a warm weekend, where we could leave the door open, which helped a bit we think, or we just became used to the smell. The room I guess measured 16-18 foot by 8 foot max, this included the private shower/toilet room, in one of the rear corners, 4.5 foot by 4.5 foot, not enough to swing a towel around your back let alone a cat around your head! The room itself is well appointed with a double bed and a single above, OK if you are 12 or younger, not really impressed as an adult, with minimal space to climb the ladder to the bed. No tea or coffee’s, and no kettle, which in itself, made you look forward to breakfast, silly mistake, should’ve known by now! Right on to breakfast, various breads, yoghurts, spreads, some kind of chocolate coated cereal, orange juice, tea option and machine coffee. Doesn’t sound too bad, right? Unfortunately there was no cheese, not one, let alone a selection no cold meats, no boiled eggs and no fresh fruit, some of the various breads I’ve mentioned before is sliced bread for toasting, in the appointed above it’s capability 2 slice toaster, and on the second morning, the laundry ( whether it was clean or dirty, I just don’t know )was occupying one of the already in short supply tables, that’s right, in the dining area. Various other faults exist within this hotel, e.g. external lighting hanging off wall, supported by its cable only, burn mars on room furniture, holes and stains on and in linen, broken stair hand rails, a night contact number that doesn’t work (so look after your key cards, they are easily corrupted) and if you do get locked out of your room, don’t expect to use the loo in reception without a physical key. It’s locked out of hours! However, I would like to highlight a positive, the hotel had excellent water pressure!!! I wouldn’t be surprised if this is more luck than judgement. I can’t really comment on the staff as my interaction with them was minimal, but
