We have just come back from Le Sherpa for a week's skiing. We were in room 16, the beds were set up as a double, the room was very small and space would be tighter if it's set up as a twin. There was very limited clothes space; a wardrobe with 1 shelf and a desk with 1 draw and 2 small shelves. We ended up using the 2 small tables to put clothes on. The beds were comfortable and pillows firm. Watch out for the laminate floor that can pinch your feet. The bathroom was nice with a large heated towel rail, underfloor heating and good sized bath with shower over. Poor lighting though. The building is rather old with original single pane windows that didn't keep any noise out. Also, room was over the bar area, so quite noisy. There is no lift and accommodation is on first & second floors. The ski locker room is accessed outside, the entrance is at the opposite end of the hotel from reception, round the corner and down a ramp that can be partially blocked by wagons during delivery times to the kitchen. Also, the ramp wasn't cleared of snow & ice or gritted, so can be dangerous walking down in ski boots. There was hardly anywhere to sit to put boots on and on Friday, loads of new customers arrived early and until check in, their cases took up all of the locker room. Also, doubtful if boot warmers were working. The bar is very popular, the table fires are a draw, although most bars in town have them. Drinks were pricey and although others rave about the cocktails, I thought they were average. The dining room was fine, a bit small and some tables were in direct line of draughts from the door to the outer bar area. Food: Breakfast was a cold (except toast) continental buffet, 90% carbs. Despite the food available, it got boring by the end of the week. Disappointed that the croissants were not warm or crispy as I have come to expect in France. If you want a hot option, there was a choice of about 5 dishes costing around €7 each. At breakfast you select your dinner options which were 1 omnivorous and 1 veggie starter and main and only 1 option of dessert. The soups weren't great (avoid the red & green pepper soup, it was awful), but mini nachos and shrimp & noodle starter was nice. Mains included hake fish (ok), pork stew, fish & chips, penne bolognese (student food). On the whole, the meals were cheap and not of the standard I expect of a hotel. They clearly prefer to charge non residents for the full menu options. The hotel is a 300 to 400 meter walk to the Jandri lift, but we could ski back to about 100m. On the whole, the hotel is a lower standard than I expected and in need of some investment to bring up to a good standard. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Amazing hotel and bar. Cheap and comfy rooms with great showers and decent breakfast included. The best part is the cocktails. Top class pro mixologist making creative signature cocktails that are some of the best I have ever tasted. Arrived late at night and bar was meant to be closing but they were amazingly friendly and made us cocktails to die for including tasting some new recipes. So friendly would recommend

We have just returned from a week's skiing and a stay in The Sherpa. We thoroughly recommend a stay here due to its location, facilities and friendliness. Room: Myself, my partner and our 10 year old had a triple room - it was spacious enough with lots of cupboard space so storage was not an issue. The only thing that would have made the room better would be a kettle, but I don't think other hotels in the area supply one either. Ski storage: cupboard provided in the basement with heated rods for ski boots. Food: there's a choice of three things each night which were always nice and came with a starter and a dessert. If you have a fussy child you may struggle as it is all 'proper' food rather than chicken nuggets but choices whilst we were there were: lasagne, spaghetti bolognese, tartiflette, fish and chips, carbonara and chicken breast with green beans. Drinks: the bar at the front is popular and very welcoming. There's an amazing cocktail and drinks menu. We did baulk slightly at the cost of a large beer, so had pre-dinner drinks at Les Lutins down the road. Cocktails were very reasonable though. Skiing in general: Les Deux Alpes is such a nice resort. It has lots of runs, mainly blue (although they were blues with steep parts so definitely still a challenge for beginners) The town is pretty, surrounded by mountains and with lots of bars and shops. The Sherpa is very close to the Jandri lift which takes you right up to the glacier area which is stunning and had excellent snow. We were worried about going for the last week of the season but we got about three snow dumps through the week and a local said it had more snow in April than March this year. We hired from Dode Sports, who were excellent and a 1 minute walk from the hotel and had lessons through the European Ski School - which is run by an English family. We got a transfer from Grenoble airport, via Ben's Buses. It drops and picks up right outside the hotel and was very reasonable.
