We had an amazing stay here. Well located near the town, close to a bus route and many attractions and also restaurants and shops. A short walk to the local ferry and. 6 pound taxi ride to Northlink Ferry terminal. The breakfast is excellent, we enjoyed eggs, cereal, toast and bacon. Coffee and tea is excellent and plentiful. Eva our host really looked after us. The rooms are clean, they have TV, good WiFi and we had an ensuite. An enjoyable stay and I would stay here again.

Great location in Lerwick for locations and also for nature, walking etc. A lovely warm accommodation with a warm shower and good WiFi. Good for driving up, down and across to places. Good to be able to do a self check-in as we wanted to tour for the day before arriving. It was good to have a sea view also easy street parking. A slight downside was the buffet breakfast- good enough but sadly not the Full Scottish individually served which we were hoping for. The room curtains were flimsy and completely useless for cutting out the light- even at night. The bathroom had a small hand basin and needed mould removal & decorating. The most concerning issue was the very low balustrade approx 78cm high with some loose vertical parts - This needs to be dealt with immediately.

..a very traditional guest house that, on first impression, may seem to need a lot of updating..however after a week's stay it was clear to us that everything worked and our stay was excellent..it was cool for June but the guest house heating kept us toasty warm..the breakfast was plentiful with superb porridge on demand..the bed was comfortable and we slept very well..one little issue was the small size of the shower but not really a problem..The Solheim comes highly recommended from us and we hope to return as soon as possible..

This guest house was a mixture of good and bad. Pros: Fantastic location Large bedroom with table, chairs & sofa Parking right outside was no problem When we told Manager of things that were faulty he got them fixed. Cons: Place needs attention. Door handle fell off, wall light hanging off, curtains falling down, every plug coming off an extension adaptor & shower kept going cold. Breakfast very poor with cheap ingredients.

After a stormy 14 hour overnight ferry trip we arrived at the guest house very tired at around 8am. We were met with a warm welcome . Caroline advised our room was yet to be cleaned but would be ready at 10am, hours before we anticipated. She invited us to sit down in the breakfast room and bought us a lovely French press each. After a rest we left our luggage and went on the recommended walk. Caroline advised if we did the circular walk our room will be ready waiting and it was! We tend to choose places to stay that are welcoming, friendly and feel like home. This place did. Its clean, comfortable and set up beautifully. Breakfast is good quality thick bacon, fresh eggs, beautiful bread, yoghurt, fruit, juices, cheese, Pastries and of course good coffee! We took Caroline's advice on sightseeing and it was just as described. I would not hesitate in staying again. We stopped in room 7, top floor with ensuite. Probably ask for ground floor if mobility issues. As usual I forgot to take photos when we got into the room, the photo of the room is when we were packing to.leave hence the mess. Sorry.

My trip to Shetlands was cancelled by Northlink Ferries, due to adverse weather conditions and the bloke at Solheim Guesthouse did not understand the case; Since the free cancellation period expired 14 days before arrival (!!!) and the cancellation was not my decision, I asked him whether they could offer me a waiver for using my booking in the future after arrangement, as a gentle gesture! He refused again and again, even if I tried to explain that it would happen to them as well. Customet service : nil Empathy: nill NEVER BOOK WITH THEM! YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR MONEY.

I stayed here with my niece for two nights in early December. It was a lovely place! The room, while tired was comfortable and very welcoming. I had my own bathroom with endless hot water. There was a comfy couch and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was substantial and quite tasty. The best part was that it was centrally located. We were able to walk everywhere we needed to go. The best judge of a place is if you’d go back. I would. Affordable and comfortable. Nice people who run it as well.

Absolutely beautiful stay at Solhiem, staff incredibly friendly and supportive, and the location is excellent, only a few minutes walk to everything in Lerwick. The room is spacious and clean, and the view is terrific. Parking was good, and our week in Shetland Islands using the Solheim as a base was brilliant.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Solheim - I was able to leave my luggage and collect my key around 9am very conveniently, and when I returned a few hours later, my luggage had been kept in my room. The room was clean and the breakfast was lovely. The guest house is also located quite centrally in Lerwick with a bus stop just outside - convenient for those relying on public transport to travel.
