Shanico Inn

Everyone at Shanico Inn was helpful. Our first non-smoking room smelled of tobacco, so we were reassigned a different first floor room. The prior occupant is to be banned from future stays. Apple Tree Restaurant next door was good, open 7 to 7, and local people eat there.

Staff nice.

The manager was awesome and took great care of us. It’s an older place but is a great place for convenience. Everything we needed was in walking distance.

Not as good as reviews implied Requested 1st floor. Denied at 2pm check-in. We were 2nd floor closest to street. Room didn’t smell good even after hours of fan blowing. Toilet tank leaked with noise of dribbling and tank refilling. Bathroom door doesn’t fully close. Traffic noise was so loud that even continuous fan doesn’t drown it out and too hot for that option. A/C cycled loudly. When at 2:00AM a fight broke out on the street below with yelling and swearing (wall in front of window blocked our view but not sound), we realized that the A/C unit had stopped working and it was hot. It needed to be turned off and then on to get it to work. By morning, it had shut off again. By then it was cool enough for fan only; road noise is way louder than the fan. Door is flimsy, no chain or secondary lock and gaps all around. Plumbing noise from other’s use was loud. Bed had been moved so outlets weren’t available to both sides of bed. No light on one side of bed. Sign says jacuzzi bathtub, but there’s only one room with that feature. List of amenities on property says restaurant. There is a non-associated one next door. The property is old and it is likely as clean as it can be, considering age and that pets can stay there. Room was large. I believe hotel staff got the fight moved along fairly quickly without incident. The unit has been painted fairly recently and the shower redone. We chose Shanico because of great reviews, but I just can’t validate them based on our experience.

There was blood or something on the mirror and it smelled like a porta potty outside

The people were very nice. Stayed for a week house hunting. Staff came in every day even though we told them they didn't have to until we left. Cleaned and freshened coffee and towels. Close to the area where we were looking. Our stay was very nice.
