A beautiful 'belle epoque' hotel sadly let down by its bedrooms and a strangely industrial restaurant. My room was old, lacking amenities (power sockets, safety accessories such as a non slip mat for the shower, only one chair in a double room and no desk light) and was in need of serious renovation. The lift did not operate correctly from our floor (apparently due to a missing part!). The restaurant named 'Shalimar' I assume after the 16th Century Shalamar Gardens in Lahore, renowned for their beauty, is a dark and depressing place with a steam punk industrial theme - so a bit of a mismatch there - however the food served was good. This beautiful 'grande dame' of a hotel deserves better and is certainly ready for a thoughtful refurbishment.

Really tired hotel and not really what I’d expect of the Mercure brand. Everything about the Hotel was run down. Very few staff were available on our visit and bar was closed early when we fancied a night cap. Such a shame but much better options in Le Mans.

Viel tegen
Wij hadden een tweepersoonskamer geboekt maar kregen een kamer met een bankbed aan ons voeteneind. Stoffige vloerbedekking. Wel heel nette schone badkamer. Helaas alleen met bad.
Restaurant was gesloten. Geen ontbijt ook genomen. Wel tegen betaling parkeerplaats. De entree in klassiek pand was wel mooi
