Have stayed here once before so found it OK (as it can be tricky to find). Stayed in Beverley room (no bath, only shower) which wasn't as nice as Blacktoft where we stayed before, but had an outlook overlooking the front gardens, so could see the car parked. Fridge in room was handy as was the fan because the heating was on full pelt and it was very hot all the time. Had bedroom window wide open at night and the fan on max to keep cool. Pillows didn't suit us they were far too soft, so we doubled up and that helped. Food was disappointing. Dinner: prawn cocktail (tiny portion in a champage type of glass, hardly any prawns), main was Barnsley chop which was tough to cut, needed some salt and was overall average, nothing special. We didnt have dessert and cancelled eating in the restaurant on day 2. Breakfast: toast was sourdough which was so hard it was a struggle to cut or eat. Eggs Benedict: 6/10, Yogurt and berries: 7/10, full English: 6/10 (bacon was hard, and fried bread was rock hard), poached eggs cooked well but tasted too much of vinegar. We weren't keen on the background music playing in the dining room - it was rather miserable! Staff were young and trying hard, they were pleasant. The young lady at breakfast was nicely turned out. We considered this an expensive stay. Food needs improvement.
