6 golf buddys and myself just enjoyed a 2 day golf break at Trethorne. Included in the very reasonable price was 2 rounds of golf, dinner, bed and breakfast. Firstly I must mention that all the staff we dealt with very friendly and helpful. Sadly our first round of golf was cut short after 9 holes due to torrential rain, however the reception staff were exceptionally helpful in arranging tee times for us to complete our first round the following morning. We then came in for breakfast, before heading back out for our second round. Considering the time of year and the amount of rain, the course was in good condition and very playable. The food we had over the 2 days was also good, as was the service 👍. However, if you are planning a trip here, DO NOT accept a room on the 1st floor of the block closest to the main road entrance!!! You have been warned!! For some strange reason there is an incredibly noisy water pump located somewhere in the loft space which fires into action every time someone uses water or flushes the toilet (which continued to happen until around 2am), making it impossible to get to sleep!!! I mentioned it to the receptionist who said she was aware of an issue. I really hope that the management look into this “issue”, as it spoilt what was a very enjoyable trip. For information, it was room 34.

Well, what an experience! I had booked at table 5 weeks previous for a table for 8, Fathers Day, explaining that we needed 2 highchairs and that we would have to be eating at 1pm so that we could leave promptly as we some of our group had to go off to work. We arrived early so we could get drinks sorted, find our table get everyone sat down and ordered. When we arrived there was no highchairs and had to ask twice to get them to the table as I couldn't see them to get them myself. On the advert it was stated that dad's get a free pint, the 2 dad's had a pint of coke each, and the rest of us had water. At 1.25pm our tickets hadn't come so we could get our carverys, so had to ask what the procedure was to get fed. A member of staff gave us a till receipt and told this will have to do. So the 2 members of our party that had to go to work went 1st and joined the que, then was told rudely by a member of staff to go and sit down it's not your turn!! I re-explained that he has to leave early and that we was ideally meant to be eating at 1pm, (now 1.32pm). Enjoyed our meal, chap on the carvery was great, well mannered, chatty and welcoming. Enjoyed our meal, small criticism is it could have been hotter. Went to pay for 4 regular carverys. 1 portion of chips and a kids meal. Charged £80. Something wasn't right. Regular carvery is £13.95 but today was 14.95. Drinks were free, but then we was charged. So breaking it all down and a confrontation with 2 members of staff. I got to the correct amount. I did not dispute paying for chips and kids meal. I had an issue with the price of our carverys and getting charged for the cokes. On a normal day the price is £13.95 however on Fathers day it's £14.95. So the drink that is free is technically £1. Also very lost to find the original bill reaching £80. Honestly not sure how they came to that price unless they charged for the 2 pints of coke. Unfortunately I never managed to take a photo of the original receipt, as a member of staff took it and screw it up before I had the chance. Probably won't be going back, and if anyone does please check your receipt thoroughly. Now contemplating wether to contact traiding standards about their priceing issue.

A disappointing experience on a golf trip with friends. Noisy rooms with water pumps going off repeatedly overnight. Then the burglar alarm went off at 5am. Nobody was there to help us out. We asked for some recognition for our experience but were refused

We came for mothers day lunch at 12pm, we were in the side room by reception, was a little worried as been in the main restaurant the last time we came for a meal with the family, what can say the atmosphere was perfect very relaxed, food was perfect and the service was great and not rushed even tho there were only 2 staff, we didn't have to leave the table as they were getting us drinks from the bar, the gentleman who was working that room was also carving & young girl was helping my mum get her lunch. I have to say its now our favourite family meal place, cant wait for the summer so we can go outside and the kids have somewhere to run around. Trethorne keep up the good work.

We went for a birthday meal. Our daughter has autism and food phobias. I phoned beforehand and explained the situation. They could not have been more supportive and cooked a special meal for my daughter. The meal we had was delicious and the staff were very attentive and pleasant. I highly recommend Trethorne Golf Club restaurant and it was a pleasure to eat there. If there were a higher award than 5 stars l would happily give it and very special thanks to the manager.

Wasn’t made to feel welcome at all. This is a golf club with rooms. Not a hotel. Room ok but corridors smelt very musty. The outside tables had two umbrellas with no bases and it was very hot with no shade. Air conditioning in the bar ( where you sit to eat if you have a dog) not switched on. Flies everywhere in that room. Breakfast included, but there was one solitary broken fried egg on the hot plate, and the bacon and sausages were pale and unappetising. Seriously folks, find a travelodge instead of going here. You will feel more welcome and standards are much better. The management team ask for feedback and then can’t even be bothered to reply. That sums up the whole place.

6 on a Sunday/ Monday golf break. Great value with 2 rounds of golf, evening meal bed and breakfast. Easy check in and staff all helpful. Food was good in the evening and prompt service even though the restaurant was packed, breakfast also was good. Only down side was the accommodation which was very close to the main road by the entrance to the golf club, this made it impossible to leave the window open for some fresh air.

Great hotel and staff. I took my 10 year old Grandaughter for a few days as a treat. It was a perfect stay all round. Trethorne barn play are almost on site but just a short walk. All day activities inside and out. Go-carts, boats, drop slide, bowling etc. All made perfect by staying in a family room that was extremely comfortable. Separate toilet from shower room, as always children always seem to need the toilet if in combined bathroom. So no issues with that and had a shower in peace. Comfortable beds and quiet. Good that the hotel stipulates quiet time in family areas from 10pm-7am. Restaurant breakfast and dinner fabulous as where the staff. Outside seating and play area with wonderful views. Great for us as the sun shone throughout. So thankyou to all members of staff for making our stay so enjoyable. Grandaughter upset when we left but I promised her we would go back again. I would certainly recommend a family stay here or a base for couples too.
